Unabridged Audiobook
Not the ending I would have expected, but still such a great sequel.
I like the sequel better than the first book. This was a great read, though not the best book I've ever read, for which I reserve for five stars. The narrator was great, and did a wide variety of accents well, but her British accent repertoire was a little limited. I really enjoyed listening to this book while commuting around New York city. And now that I finished it, my New York City Life is a little less rich.
This story was made whole and fuller by this sequel. Like so many of Jemisin’s works, the fractal nature of the being experience is profoundly captured. That what we experience on the individual is amplified to the relational, collective, systemic, and inter-dimensional. It feels like a very timely tale to use to process the current moment of late capitalism we find ourselves in.
