Summary
When a dystopian government controls every aspect of society, siblings Wisty and Whit Allgood may be the world's only hope in this magical beginning of James Patterson's Witch & Wizard series.

The world is changing: the government has seized control of every aspect of society, and now, kids are disappearing. For 15-year-old Wisty and her older brother Whit, life turns upside down when they are torn from their parents one night and slammed into a secret prison for no reason they can comprehend. The New Order, as it is known, is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Being a Normal Teenager. But while trapped in this totalitarian nightmare, Wisty and Whit discover they have incredible powers they'd never dreamed of. Can this newly minted witch and wizard master their skills in time to save themselves, their parents—and maybe the world?

James Patterson is the bomb!! Amazing as always! Love it!

While I admire James Patterson's writing ability in his usual genre, he is out of his element here. While you can see what he's aiming at he just never gets there. The heroes are clueless, missing the obvious like they have never read a fantasy book or seen a movie. Cliche at best.

I like Patterson, but this book left me going, "Really is that all?" It seems unfinished - or like a set up for another book or series, which would have been fine if I'd had some idea it was going to be that.

Completely agree with Kansas City, MO on July 28th, 2010. I have recommended this to my daughter. It is a very good story line and can't wait to read the next one.

Couldn't get through it, sent it back after the first two CD's. Mom and Dad witches, kids who don't know they are witches, a new order "the one"--thats about it for the first two CD's.

I really like how the story flowed. From reading the book to listening it definitely grabs your attention more as you're able to put a voice behind the main characters.

I guess I missed that this was geared toward "tweens". Definitely not a book that would appear to anyone older than 13 - and that is even a stretch. Just a lame book overall.

WOW! I have always avoided Patterson's books for some reason, but no more. The story is clearly aimed at the "tween" and teenage market, and even though I am far too old to fit into this group, I really enjoyed the story. The narrators added to the tale. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys science fiction or fantasy stories.
