Summary
Mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham must discover what could make an entire community disappear--before it's too late--in this thrilling entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling Alpha and Omega series.

In the wilds of the Northern California mountains, all the inhabitants of a small town have gone missing. It's as if the people picked up and left their possessions behind. With a mystery on their hands and no jurisdiction on private property, the FBI dumps the whole problem in the lap of the land owner, Aspen Creek, Inc.--aka the business organization of the Marrok's pack.

Somehow, the pack of the Wolf Who Rules is connected to a group of vanished people. Werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham are tasked with investigating, and soon find that a deserted town is the least of the challenges they face.

Death sings in the forest, and when it calls, Charles and Anna must answer. Something has awakened in the heart of the California mountains, something old and dangerous--and it has met werewolves before.

Loved this story. This tied a few loose ends together and set up an exciting future in the alpha and omega +mercy thompson universe.

Love this series you can read this independent of other books but there are reappearing characters that have only small roles that give extra context to the story that you would miss. Overall I would say this isn't my favorite in the series but it was enjoyable and added depth to some of the characters we were introduced to in previous books.

There were a lot of things I loved in this book. Learning about Leigha, Sherwood Post, Bran and how he chose Leigha as his mate. I keep falling in love with Anna And Charles more and more. And, Charles sounds sexier and sexier each book and Anna is growing so strong. I am forever grateful that Brother wolf chose Anna for Charles’ mate because I love hearing about his sense of humor and smiling. It was great to get to know Tag a bit better too. You’ll want to read the Mercy book released after this to learn even more about Sherwood. OMG is all I will say. . There was an epilogue which is a little different. Although heartbreaking and there were some tears it is exciting too. It left waiting(impatiently) for the next book. I adore Mercy’s world more every read/ listen. Would it be wrong to say I would love a man like Charles? Even if everyone is scared of him. .
