This was an amazing book, and the most horrendously cruel thing I have ever read. I found myself being so angry that these children endured these conditions, and it makes you wonder what you would do if you were in their situation. It was absolutely heartbreaking, but impossible to put down. I just had to know how it ended, and had to know what happened to the kids. I will never forget this story. I didn’t know just how cruel some human beings can be to others, I think I’m somewhat traumatized by the reality. I would rather know that this exists than be blissfully ignorant, but it’s not an easy book.

Must listen! Reminded me of - A Child Called It, Angela's Ashes etc. Stories i read 2 decades ago and still remember in detail to this day, I will never forget these boys childhood. I will continue Dennis and David's story with When Memories Remain.

Oh my God. Brilliant and awful. I need Domco brought to my house. Just me and him. I am not maternal but these twins made me want to stand between them and that satanic hybrid step father of theirs. A weak and useless mother. Jehovah's Witnesses allowing the incredible abuse in the name of God. A social welfare system hopelessly inept. Sickening at times. I hope that these amazing, talented twins with such a good sense of humour have only happy days.

What an incredible story! I am so happy that the twins were able to finally tell their story for the world to hear. I’m honored to have known you and your siblings if only through words in a book. Thank you for sharing your shockingly brutal story. I hope that you have found peace in some sort of way.

This was by far one of the best books I've ever listened too. It is a very rough listen as the true stories of such dramatic childhoods with added animal abuse is heavy. Although it was heart wrenching, I could not stop listening. My Heart goes out to the children and animals terrorized by this man.

Very good. Problem is it goes on and on in painful excruciating detail. I felt it dragged on too long with repetitive narratives and it caused me to want to skip sections. Ultimately, I didn’t. Book is very good and worthwhile.

Unbelievable true story.

This book open my eyes on how people can be so cruel to children. It also taught me about endurance. Although the system failed them the children looked out for each other. Every social worker, teacher and police should read this book. Children are beautiful treasures that need to be protected in every community!

This was a good book but felt repetitive at times.

Heart wrenching story about the Pischke family, it’s sad knowing that this story wasn’t as rare as it should be, specially in the years it took place.

Really tough content, but an incredible story! Would definitely recommend the read.
