Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler -- the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years -- has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young protégé, Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves.

As Kelsier's protégé and slayer of the Lord Ruler she is now venerated by a budding new religion, a distinction that makes her intensely uncomfortable. Even more worrying, the mists have begun behaving strangely since the Lord Ruler died, and seem to harbor a strange vaporous entity that haunts her.

Stopping assassins may keep Vin's Mistborn skills sharp, but it's the least of her problems. Luthadel, the largest city of the former empire, doesn't run itself, and Vin and the other members of Kelsier's crew, who lead the revolution, must learn a whole new set of practical and political skills to help. It certainly won't get easier with three armies – one of them composed of ferocious giants – now vying to conquer the city, and no sign of the Lord Ruler's hidden cache of atium, the rarest and most powerful allomantic metal.

As the siege of Luthadel tightens, an ancient legend seems to offer a glimmer of hope. But even if it really exists, no one knows where to find the Well of Ascension or what manner of power it bestows.

An outstanding read. Tremendous narrating and Sanderson does an excellent job of keeping the thrill going and developing amazing back stories for all characters.

Simply hypnotic!! Mr. Sanderson, you have earned a new fan. This continuation of the Mistborn series captured my imagination to the point that my friends felt neglected. The novel received the majority of my attention. The plot, the action, the characters, the build...Great Work! In addition, Mr. Kramer definitely knows how to deliver the goods!

Great book! Great Narrator! Voices really make the book come even more alive. Was glued to this book from beginning to end despite "slow" parts in middle. The author really knows how to keep your attention through the ENTIRE book. Already listening to Hero of Ages now.

I absolutely love these books and the narrator is awesome. If you love fantasy books this is one of the best series I've read in a very long time. Sanderson has a wonderful imagination and he's an excellent writer.

Overall, very good. There is a character that is really rather cringe and 'edgy' that I feel could have been handled better. As well as a gross relationship between a young woman and an older man that does carry into the next book. However, the story telling is great. The narrator does a good job except for a few accents that are a bit much.

Has a part where a female disrobes. That kind of stuff ruins a good book

4.5 stars. Sanderson is a very meticulous writter. I really enjoy his writing style. My bond with the characters grew tighter in this second Mistborn installment. 1,300 pages of Sanderson in April and im still enjoying my Year of Sanderson. Looking forward to reading The Hero of Ages and The Eleventh Metal (novella) next month.

Vin frowned.* Yet again, it kinds of sum it up. It was an ok book for a middle book, and you'll want to go through it to have the full story (referring to the first 3 books in the Mistborn series). It felt like it had a very long beginning, a small middle and an end. By that I mean that the ''proportions'' of the parts of the story weren't for my taste, but maybe you'll enjoy it. I'll admit that full arc, of the first 3 books, is benefited by this book so I do recommend it - so you'll have the whole story. *After you'll read/hear this book you'll probably understand why "Vin frowned" is the complete synopsis for this book.

I feel like this continues with my feelings towards the first book of the trilogy. The setting and world building is amazing. Some aspects of the story will really draw you in. Everything else is completely over rated IMO. Characters are Flanderized, they dont make gradual changes over time, so much as its usually them having a conversation with someone, and they suddenly realize why they should have been chaning with certain events from previous chapters. In this book the rough and tough theives are sudenly good and are in politics, but there was never a real change in them so much as its the next book so now theyre different.Vin went from being a "not like other girls" character, to accepting her feminine side, to all of the sudden rejecting it as if that progression never happened. Honesty, I think I am gonna take a break, go through another book, and in a week or so, see if I feel like going through the third book. There are things I am intereest in finding out, but the characters and certain story aspects just leave me wishing for more.

I love the MistBorn series. However, book two is messed up. It skips chapters and chapters a head suddenly given away a huge plot point. ????
