Unabridged Audiobook
If you're as old as I am, you probably rented Vampire Hunter D from the "Japanese Animation" section of your local Blockbuster and got a kick out of what was essentially the gritty anime version of a Hammer horror film. What you didn't get with that film, however, was a solid grasp of the story. The original manga series on which this was based had a much more detailed and riveting plot, and it comes out in this dramatized adaptation. Several characters and plot lines that were either truncated or omitted from the film are now greatly expanded, and the plot has much more cohesion as a result. This *is* the story from the movie. However, if you've only experienced the anime, you haven't experienced it at all. This is so much better, and the best part is that there are several volumes of this franchise with stories that you've never heard before.
I enjoyed the clear narration and full cast. It felt as if I was watching a movie. Glad I listened to it and would highly recommend to others.
