Unabridged Audiobook
This was an unexpected, enjoyable find! I am looking forward to sharing it with my daughter, who has expressed an interest in going into the CIA/FBI. I found the author relatable, funny and quite intelligent. Loved the use of female power and support as many lessons learned in this story.
I was never so reluctant to finish a book but I had to since it was our latest book club selection. If ever there was a book that warranted eye-rolls throughout, this was the book! Ugh and more ughs!! The author attempts to convey to the reader (listener) that she is a very humble, unassuming young woman who just does what she is told in life and never breaks any rules when, in fact, she comes across as a prideful loner who complains of being victimized by her masochistic bosses in her young career in the CIA and FBI. I have learned in life that if a person complains that they can rarely get along with others and make friends personally or professionally, that person should look within themselves instead of blaming others around them. That is the case with this author. The "I am just humbly doing my job and trying to navigate through all the hurdles that everyone constantly throws at me" vibe was just too much for me to digest. If you can handle a whiny, self-absorbed woman describing her take on her career in her twenties, that, by all means, read this book. My advice would be to walk away and select one of the million other options.
How can you have an audio book with every other sentence blocked by “classified” words removed or some other rubbish This would of been a good book I’m sure but it’s let down by poor planning sorry
