While I love Hank Phillippi Ryan's 'Jane Ryland series', this is, by far, the worst narration ever. The narrator sounds like she's being forced to narrate this book and it's torture, both for her and for the reader. I couldn't listen past a few chapters, and everyone I played it for agreed. Her scratchy voice and patterned diction is awful. Nearly every sentence fades on a down note and there is little variety in her monotonous narrative. All the women sound the same, as do the men, and everyone sounds like they're suffering. It was so disappointed that I wasted money on this, but will never make the same mistake again. I guess I'll have to stick to reading the hardbacks, because Phillippi Ryan never disappoints, but Xe Sands certainly does.
