Unabridged Audiobook
I’m becoming a real fan of both the writer and the reader. A reader can make or break an audiobook, and this reader is spectacular. I believe the unique character developments by this author are really special as well. They are wonderful and flawed and real. I’m ready to listen to my fourth Liane Moriarty book and she goes in my list of good reads - not easy to get on that list.
Love the narrator, her voice captured me entirely. The book struck a cord with me and the author has an amazing ability to draw you in and make you identify with every character in some way.
Caroline Lee saved this book for me! She is fantastic! The characters came to life through her narration, especially Vid, love that character!
This was a good book and I enjoyed how the end tied together. At first, however, I kept getting the characters mixed up. However, I always love how Liane Moriarty 's characters come to life in her books and this book is no different. Even the personalities of the little girls are so well developed and believable. The narrator, also, brings life and color to the story. I enjoy listening to her Australian accent tell the story. It truly transports me to Australia where these stories usually take place.
I found this book slow and sometimes hard to follow. Sweet ending but not a very compelling read.
It went on and on - I thought it would never end!
Boring, going nowhere
I've read several of Moriarty's books and they're wonderful. But this narrator was spectacular and was a huge reason I enjoyed listening to this book so very much.
I Love Liane Moriarty's Books, I've read them all and listened to all of them Read by Caroline Lee. Caroline brings the characters alive as if she has meet them all individually, I enjoy her perception of the characters more than my own. However with or without a great Narrator, Liane Moriarty is an Amazing Writer, her books are always just what I need at the time. Thanks for writing, and Thanks Narrating. I will continue reading and listening. ☆☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
I really enjoyed Truly Madly Guilt, my second Lianne Moriarty book. It took a bit to figure out we were bouncing back and forth from the day of the BBQ to present day, to keep adding more to the back-story, but once I did the story unfolded seamlessly, but entirely differently than I'd been thinking it would. It was a great look into the psychology of guilt, and how our feelings are highly dependent on our prior experiences. And I loved the narration. I found the different voices and accents identifiable and the voice emotions seemed generally right on. I was only slightly annoyed by the little girl voices because they sounding more like brats than like sweet but naturally narcissistic children. Other than that this was a great audio read.
I enjoyed this. My favorite character is Vid.
This narrator was so difficult to listen too. I have tried over and over to enjoy this book but her squeaky voice is abrasive to my ears. I can’t follow the story either. I give this whole listening experience 2 thumbs down.
Love this author in Big Little Lies but this novel is very hard to get through. It’s very boring!
Excellent book!
The storyline wasn't as captivating as The Husband's Secret or Big Little Lies but it was nice to listen to on my way to and from work
I'm a fan of Moriarty. She has a true gift of delivering the complexities of each character. Overall, it was a good book, but not her best as far as a captivating story line. Loved the narrator!
Not my favorite Lianne Moriarty book but a good listen over all. It's hard to love one as much as "Big Little Lies."
Loved it
This wasn't Moriatiry's best effort but I did like the characters except for the kids. She painted a great picture of Vid and Sylvia who were the most entertaining. The main characters were annoying and faceless. This narrator does a good job except for the kids. Her child voice is dreadful.
Enjoyed the book but not as well as her other ones. Great app for listening while driving!
Amazing as usual. Liane never disappoints! Love the story line.
This, like all of Moriarty's books, did not disappoint. It did start slow, but was captivating before long.
The narrator's voice annoyed me in the beginning. But by the end of the book I knew exactly who was "speaking". She did a good job. The story was meh. The kids in the story wore my nerves. All I could think of is how I would discipline them. Waaayyyy too long!
Great characters, but a bit of a disappointing climax compared to her other books. On the other hand, I adore this narrator!!!
I loved this book. The characters were beautifully done. I felt I understood each person and all of their reactions to a scary and life threatening event. What a ride!!
A very slow start to the story, but stick with it! It's a very good book!
I didn't like this book much. It took a long time to seem to go anywhere, then it took even longer getting there.
Don't bother with this one. I really enjoyed Moriarty's other books but this was disappointing. Awful narrator, with a squeaky, grating voice. No real twists or turns and not clever at all. The only positive about this book was it took me a month to listen to, so I didn't have to spend extra credits as I usually do.
Started off very slowly with often very annoying narration style from reader-ie-shrill children's voices with exagerrated Aussie accent. About 1/3 into the book it finally got interesting. A long tease until the 'incident' was revealed.
I almost gave up on this book because it took so long to get to the point. Also, the author use "as if" way to often. Sometimes she could have just written a statement without using "as if" to explain the comment. Trust us, we understand what you're saying. Loved the narrator.
I definitely enjoy Liane Moriarty books and binge read all of them. I was excited for this one to be released. It was good! Was a little slow to start but I still enjoyed the storyline very much! A good listen for sure.
I love the author and she did not disappoint with this one.
I almost gave up on this book. The first half was so slow it was really hard to stick with it. I'm glad I did because the second pulled everything together and was really enjoyable.
Great read! I couldn't stop! The characters are great and the story is face paced.
it was difficult to get through at first. Slow, characters were confusing to separate . However, after first few hours, story came together. It was good if you persevered!
I found the book to be boring, maybe if it was shorter by giving less information into each character.
Fantastic book with wonderful narration. Another hit from Moriarty! This is up there with the Husband's Secret.
This book was kind of boring, especially compared to Moriarty's previous works. The characters were less compelling and it felt like she was filling the pages to have a complete book. On a positive note, however, bringing to light the risk of childhood drowning is significant - she may save some lives.
Good book. However, I felt like getting to what happened at the barbecue took too long.
