Unabridged Audiobook
John Steinbecks writing brings one along for a richly described ride through America with an amusing companion of simply life. My experiences of driving coast to coast a few times were reminiscent of his, remembered fondly. This book is thoroughly enjoyable for travelers, historians, and amusement. Gary Sinise's narration captures your attention throughout. Applause!
it was my first lister to a john Steinbeck book. it was good, but I expected more since he's so famous. narrator did a good job!
What a delightful wonderful experience it was to enjoy this book. Steinbeck's capture of the soul of America still holds true 50+ years later. I listened to this book as I meandered through the Black Hills, Badlands, and into SW Minnesota, and I felt as though Steinbeck was there with me, seeing what I saw, experiencing how I felt.
Love the app... helps me along, on my long trips. the book could be slow at times.
Great story of Steinbeck's view of America in 1960 and still relevant today, maybe more now than when he wrote it. Gary Sinise was absolutely outstanding as the narrator.
Absolutely delightful story of an Americana that is not too far in the past. Actually Steinbeck's observations of people and places of the early 60's show us that things are not that different today. I have the book and also bought the book-on-tape. The book-on-tape is read by Gary Sinise and his love of Steinbeck and amazing ability to bring the character's personal alive, well, let me suggest that out get it and set out on a long drive somewhere in the US. It will be love like Steinbeck's feeling about Montana. Enjoy - Steve Worth, Ventura, CA
