Abridged Audiobook
It's a good listen, the narrator did well. It's another good insight to hear from the survivor's own accord of what happened on the Titanic. I was surprise of how calm everything was and differed from what we see in the movies. Can't imagine being there when it happened. Props to the crew that maintained the safeboats efficiently and condolences to all who have lost their lives that night.
Interesting recount
Tells a totally different story than the ones you’ve always heard. Such flowery language they used back then...they paint a wonderfully vivid picture. Way better than the dees dems and dozes we use today.
Any fascinated with the tragic tale of this once majestic ship will enjoy this short account.
Great to hear a version different to the movies. Enlightening . We enjoyed it.
I felt like I was there when it had happened and was l not scary
Very very very very good
I enjoyed it
I enjoyed this. I just wanted more.
It was a good book. Very fascinating
Great read, I loved it
it made me feel like I was there the narrator was speaking like Lawrence Beesley
Fascinating account of the very tragic event. Greatly narrated and we'll told. I received chills as if I were actually there.
As told in copious detail by a survivor of this epic tragedy, this beautifully written, utterly chilling account of the Titanic's final hours made me feel as if I'd lived through the experience myself. Mesmerizing from beginning to end.
Fascinating firsthand account of a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic. For those (like me) still fascinated (obsessed?) by this horrendous disaster, it is a surprise find.
powerful gripping account, one of the most sobering and intense as I've ever come across. it's a short account but need not be any longer to leave a last impression of one of the world's greatest calamities at sea. I highly recommend it Great narrator adds to the listen.
This book was a personal perspective of the sinking of the Titanic. It nails down the facts of the accident on an intimate and present way. Great listen.
I was very surprised at the degree to which I enjoyed this story. It is short (approximately one hour in length) but the depth of the eyewitness account of all of the amazing events leading to the greatest sea disaster in history is a great listen. I heartily recommend this.
Very interesting to hear a true account rather than the dramatised version history portrays
Have long wanted to read this account especially published so soon after the tragedy to see how the narrative of the Titanic's sinking has evolved over time. Beesley makes an excellent point that it is difficult to make judgements through a lens that benefits from hindsight and a worthy addition to any student of the event's library.
Very interesting read. Getting information from someone involved made the understanding of the disaster different somehow. Things you hadn’t heard before.
Very interesting. I enjoyed it.
Excellent…, Very well written. And haunting.
Interesting but he found a place in a life boat early on. He made it sound like there was no panic as has been pictured in the movie. There may not have been panic during the loading of the first boats but I find that hard to believe that was the case as it became obvious to many that there were not enough boats to take them all.
An excellent narrative from the viewpoint of a Titanic survivor. What surprised me was the calm aboard the sinking ship as passengers were lowered into the icy Atlantic in so few lifeboats. The author only noted pandemonium when those who remained aboard were tossed or chose to plunge into the freezing waters and screamed for the very lives they lost. So extremely horrific that more than 1,500 people died in that tragedy.
It’s amazing to actually listen to an account of the event from someone who survived
It’s a very honest account of the tragedy that happened on the ship and the way everyone was so calm and not told of the serious situation they were in quite unbelievable really.
Great to hear a real story of a titanic passenger, explaining what was happening around him with other people- real life, relatable, fascinating! All new to me, and the narrator’s voice was so pleasant
Very interesting book from the mouth of someone who witnessed it 'as it happened'....definitely recommended for historians. Gripping read
this book was very good for a short story.
Even though it was a tragic event, the book, written in 1st Person gives an air of authenticity and reality to the story. His description of the sinking is eerie and exhilarating at the same time. Enjoyable reading for a History buff or anyone wanting to know more than Hollywood portrays.
This was a super amazing book to listen to when I was on a road trip.
informative picture of that terrible night. No panic or hysteria!! Amazing
It’s nice
