It will take some effort and practice to see how the other techniques work our for me, but I'm definitely going to give them a try. I took off 1 star because I think the points could have been made faster and more directly (too much verbiage at times).
I have never read a book about how to speed read before so I was interested to check out Proven Speed Reading Techniques by John Torrance. I mean if I can read more books than I already do then I am all in.
Quick - to the point - effective and gave multiple examples of how to achieve speed reading - awesome
Very informative. Author did a lot of research and imbedded it soundly into this amazing book. I learned about the mind, how it processes information. Various techniques to read quicker and faster and retaining more. Scanning and skimming was a key point for me. I highly recommend this book!
This guide aims to unlock the potential we all have of reading faster than we are used to. Needless to say, there are many advantages to fast reading, and I appreciated the orderly and effective way in which the various techniques are described. Reading this book is only the first step, that is, you will need a lot of practice, but the information I received is undoubtedly useful to put me on the right path!

I was already a 'skimmer' but the chapter called 'Skimming or Scanning' offered some techniques that I applied as I read this book and I immediately increased my reading speed, which was very encouraging!
This is the first speed-reading book I've ever read and I found the information to be quite useful. I know that the tips work (at least the ones I applied) because I used them to read this very book faster - and it worked!
With all the information these days we need to select what we read, and we need to skim over information fast to get the essence. This book offers a quick way on how to read faster. It covers all aspects of the speed reading topic, and is a great primer to start.
