Unabridged Audiobook
I was beyond surprised by how much I liked this series! I just didn't expect much. It seemed like most people either made Drows evil, stupid, apathetic or worse... The narrator's voice is pleasant and is very versatile with altering tone, pitch, tempo and inflection is well done. Devon does a great job of putting in the attitude(s) for MC and others as well. How she shifts from character to character is noticeable but not overdone. Drow was the first race I chose with Elder Scrolls and I have been waiting for a good showing of them. This book far surpassed all prior versions of Drow I have read. And the MC is both frustrating and amazing at the same time! I love her! The story is fun and I wasn't able to predict much, which made it even better. It flows well and I could easily see myself apart of it. Despite the fantasy aspects. The world building is nicely done and I look forward to seeing some geopolitical aspects in later books. I really love the magic of the series as well. No stupid limitations of needing to say the spells out loud, wave around a wand, staff or some other implement. From what you see, so far, the magic system is more intuitive and has potential for innovation. Not stuck by rigid or closed minded system. Carr does a great job and I look forward to reading more! I highly recommend this series.
an amazing read would definitely advise people who love books to give this a listen
