Except Isabelle isn't the beautiful girl who lost the glass slipper and captured the prince's heart. She's the ugly stepsister who cut off her toes to fit into Cinderella's shoe . . . which is now filling with blood.Isabelle tried to fit in. She cut away pieces of herself in order to become pretty. Sweet. More like Cinderella. But that only made her mean, jealous, and hollow. Now she has a chance to alter her destiny and prove what ugly stepsisters have always known: it takes more than heartache to break a girl.Evoking the darker, original version of the Cinderella story, Stepsister shows us that ugly is in the eye of the beholder, and uses Jennifer Donnelly's trademark wit and wisdom to send an overlooked character on a journey toward empowerment, redemption . . . and a new definition of beauty.

Thank you for bringing to us all of the side, back, and the whole going forward stories of Cinderella and stepsisters, and the consequences of the actions they took at the behest of a world and its morays and forays, by which they thought they had to abide. I'm sure this lovely retelling of the most told fairy tale in the history of such tales has soared into the souls of the wishing place of many a female who knows the CR story backwards and forwards but can count at least 10 things that would happy their hearts SO MUCH MORE than a prince or being pretty. I can honestly say that Isabelle is the first female fairy tale lead my young self would gone as for halloween... my current self just very may be her this year! This has been fun! it's a beautiful and inspiring story, told very exceptionally well!
