Summary
This audiobook has been narrated by a digital voice created using AI. This recording has been digitally produced by Taylor Night, using a synthesized version of an audiobook narrator’s voice under license. From fantasy author Taylor Night comes the debut novel in a thrilling new epic fantasy series, SKYBORNE, ideal for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Holly Black, and Rebecca Yarros.

When 19-year-old Elyra Mistwood receives her recruitment letter, she is forced from her village and thrust into Skyborne, a dangerous academy that turns citizens into soldiers in the war against a rival kingdom. As she is trained in deadly magical disciplines and fights for her survival, she experiences an unexpected romantic pull to both the charismatic noble Caspian and the stoic, mysterious Kael.

The SKYBORNE series pulls us into a thrilling new fantasy world teeming with danger and opportunity, where fate leads our heroine to love and enchantment and tests her will to survive. An epic adventure marked by surprising developments and intense anticipation, SKYBORNE is fresh and imaginative and is sure to appeal to young adult readers as well as seasoned fans of fantasy.

Future books in the series will soon be available!

A little more detail between events would be good. Something to show the passage of time, rather than jumping from one test to another. A good listen to pass time. Will read the next installment.

pacing is way too fast, unnecessary and forced love triangle, unrealistic levels of bullying, the primary love interest connection goes from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye and by the end of the book they're saying "i love you" and she's all "this changes everything" which should highlights one of the mountain of clichés, but most of all it's like... there was NO real build up of this supposed love. He says "Hey stop bullying her" on like... idk page 10, and she's instantly all "ooohhh i just can NOT stop thinking about him ooooooo" and halfway through the story he's all "you fight good. I like you now, romantically. let's keep that secret." and he says it as if he somehow already knows she likes him which is just odd. 1/10 overall. the premise had potential but there's very little to no world building or real explanation of HOW the magic works. We see the MC learn like one levitation spell and then two chapters later she's hurting lightning and fire and ice. Honestly even in the free section I still want a refund.

The overall concept and storyline of this book is fantastic! It has all the right things: mystery, magical creatures, secrets and the strength of friendship, etc. Unfortunately, though, Elyra needed more depth and growth to her budding power in order for me to believe she was as amazing as she needed to be in the story. I also didn’t feel the intense connection she had with her new friends. I wanted to, but all you really get is a snippet of how she meets them and occasionally interacts with them, and then apparently they’re all inseparable besties? I felt similarly about the apparent love story…it was epically lacking. She was willing to risk everything for a nobel even though their interactions are incredibly fleeting. And then, to add to my confusion, she also has life-changing butterflies for another student at the same time…but then risks her entire life at the academy for the other guy…? Very confusing… I wanted it to be better because everything about the concept, world, magic and intrigue was there…it was just lacking in depth of storytelling to bring it to ‘life’.

This was a freebie but I really liked it. The mystery shrouded around Eliryas upbringing kept me intrigued along with the different magical aspects.

Was this written by AI? Any author would have noticed the gaps in plot and character development. It was absolutely random with timeline and details. The only dialog from the MFL was thank people. Yuck. The narrator truly was a robot reading aloud ** Asterix and had odd audio background noise at times. Don’t download. Don’t support the automatization of fantasy book creation.
