Unabridged Audiobook
Slater and Arley have been friends for years. They both work for Haworth Enterprises. Slater is secretly in love with Arley has been for years. He doesn’t want to tell her because he doesn’t think he deserves her. But when her ex starts showing interest again and when her life is in danger, he steps up to do what he does best… Protect her. Even if that means they have to live together and pretend to be a couple. Slater decides that he wants to make their fake relationship real and he will stop at nothing to make sure they can have a future and keep her safe. This is book one in a Duet so it ends on a cliffhanger. It is entertaining and I found myself laughing out loud a lot. It has a lot of twist and turns that make this a great read. I also loved how Arley and Slater interact and they just get each other. I listened to this on audio and the narrators did a great job bringing this story to life. I loved both of them listening to this make the story even more engaging. Loved this book.
.5So, I went into this completely blind and obviously didn’t pay attention because I had no idea this was a duet. Shatterproof is the first book in the Shatter & Shock Duet, and it starts off with a bang and ends with a crazy cliffhanger, so be prepared.Slater and Arley both work for a security company and have been best friends for years since they got stuck in an elevator together. They have been mutually pining after each other for years, but they both feel like the other is out of their league, and they don’t want to ruin their close relationship. They had such a close friendship that felt real. I think this is the perfect friends to lovers but also focused on the suspense elements when Arley is attacked. Slater basically appoints himself as her bodyguard and moves her into his place till they figure out who is targeting her. Now we have a great forced proximity situation, which finally forces them to acknowledge their connection. I loved their banter, and the dynamic between them was so sweet. Things really got spicy, and I could feel their chemistry. Audiobook Review I was lucky to receive the ALC from DS Book Promotions. Troy Kain and Sable Lyn did a fantastic job with the banter and connection of the characters. It brought excitement with all of the suspense in this book, and I listened to this in one sitting. Some parts felt a little choppy, or the pacing didn’t flow with the female narrator. However, I loved Troy’s performance, especially during the action scenes and sexy times.
