Dear Listener,

Like handshakes or housepets, many things are preferable when not slippery. Unfortunately, in this miserable volume, I am afraid that Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire run into more than their fair share of slipperiness during their harrowing journey up—and down—a range of strange and distressing mountains.

It would be best not to mention any of the unpleasant details of this story, particularly a secret message, a swarm of snow gnats, a scheming villain, a covered casserole dish, and a surprising survivor of a terrible fire.

Unfortunately, I have dedicated my life to researching and recording the sad tale of the Baudelaire Orphans. There is no reason for you to dedicate yourself to such things, and you might instead dedicate yourself to letting this slippery audio slip from your hands into a nearby trash receptacle, or deep pit.

With all due respect,

Lemony Snicket

I truly love these books and having an audiobook makes it even more interesting with Tim Curry reading them.

I loved A Series of Unfortunate Events as a kid and now as an adult. I truly do, don't get me wrong on that. I've recently been listening to the audiobooks while I'm at work. I didn't get to finish the series growing up. When I was a kid I couldn't get through The Slippery Slope. It's not that it was dry and boring, it was just a rather repetitive book. I did the same thing with the audio book. It was really difficult for me to stay focused listening to it. I mean, if certain things have to be repeated in book 10 then it shouldn't be picked up and read at all if you haven't read the first 9. Unless you are forgetful and don't remember something from the first 8 books, then that's ok. I'm not one to judge how people decide to read this series. But I lost interest frequently. Overall, the book isn't too bad but I'm excited to move on.
