Summary
You're not going home. You're not going anywhere. You're mine now.

Growing up in a deeply troubled family, fifteen-year-old Anna felt lost and alone in the world. So when a friendly taxi driver befriended her, Anna welcomed the attention, and agreed to go home with him to meet his family. She wouldn't escape for over a decade.

Held captive by a sadistic pedophile, Anna was subjected to despicable levels of sexual abuse and torture. The unrelenting violence and degradation resulted in numerous miscarriages, and the birth of four babies . . . each one stolen away from Anna at birth.

Her salvation arrived thirteen years too late, but despite her shattered mind and body, Anna finally managed to flee. This is her harrowing, yet uplifting, true story of survival.

Contains mature themes.

Beautifully written, very sad and tragic story. Extremely graphic but Anna’s story had to be told. So thankful Anna had a happy ending.

A sad book. Well written...steeped in truth. A rude awakening to the trafficking of people. Worth the listen. Be strong.

It is so very difficult to rate a book like this. If it was just about rating Anna, her courage and strength to write down her horrific experiences then this book deserves 10 out of 5 stars. Literarily the book is a bit clunky but then again how do you get artistic when relating such a horrific event? The content and story were absolutely appalling. I only made it to the end so I could see some sort of happy or just resolution. In that, I was very disappointed. I won't give anything away but I found myself wishing she would/could do more to make Malik and his family pay for the atrocties perpetrated upon her. I understand however, the fear that must be involved in doing so. I am shocked at how blind the authorities were especially the doctors and nurses who treated her injuries over the years. Did anybody even wonder why she wasn't allowed to talk and why someone from the family was always hovering over her ensuring she wouldn't say anything? So many opportunities to help Anna were missed or ignored. I am always bewildered at the capability of man to be so cruel to another human being. I truly do not understand. I praise Anna for her courage and her continued battle fighting the demons that haunt her to this day. I curse Malik and those like him, and hope they get there just deserts in the end.

The stuff your absolute worst nightmares are made of. There were times when it gets VERY VERY uncomfortable listening to her story, and you desperately want this to be a fictional book, a made up story, anything but reality. This book should be made mandatory for every law enforcement, nurse, teacher, psychologist, or anybody that has to deal with what looks like abuse. A word of caution, there are many times where this book gets kinda really graphic, to some readers this book may give you nightmares, I’m serious. It’s not that this book isn’t great, because it absolutely is, it’s just if you on the sensitive side you may want to look elsewhere. And as some other readers mentioned, “Malek” the taxi driver and family, may you burn in hell, and die the most long extremely slow painful death any human could devise.

It was hard to hear the details of her terrible life but it keep my interest in seeing if she was finally able to escape. There are some very horrible people in this world. I’m glad she survived.

this book is one hard listen. on the one hand I wanted to stop, what this women was subjected to as a child, teenager and young women is heartbreaking, violent and hard to hear. the need to know how her life was after kept me going. The way systems let her down is an eye opener.

So hard to believe that such evil people exist in the world. To endure that kind of treatment for so long and at the hands of a person obviously mentally I'll himself is unfathenable!

Such a sad and traumatic story- extremely hard to listen to the graphic details of her experience but even more appalling to think about the fact that it was a true story. Extremely disappointing to hear the author’s take at the end and how justice has not been served but by her choice.

Hard to know if it's a true account of an actual situation. Lots of violence and horror which was so repeated and detailed that I skipped a couple of hours just to get to the bit where she escaped. Narrator was excellent, believable.

The story is harrowing. Gets u on the edge of your seat at times . That being said it seems too fantastical to be real. I have alot of trouble believing the stories details as they are just too much. its just stacks and stacks.

Although my heart breaks over this story- for me it wasn’t my most “favorite” read. I often found myself making sure I hadn’t gone back a chapter because it was very repetitive. Very well narrated though.

Words like Nana, Grandma- the narrator pronounced with an R at the end of the word. It was a little irritating. She read them many times and it was all I could focus on. Although it does not take away from the story. She was brave. The attacks she endured were cringe worthy, brutal, awful and degrading. I do pray for her family. I am so relieved she finally decided to escape.

This story sounds fake, years of beatings, brutal rapes, illnesses, poor nutrition. No one will survive all of those years of that when she had some chances of telling someone at the hospital. I think she made up a lit if the story to make sound more horrible to sell her book. Been kidnap must be horrific and all of those years she lost but a lot of story was made up or exaggerated. Still horrible experience
