Unabridged Audiobook
I’ve loved gone with the wind for as long as I can remember. This “sequel” answered all the questions I’ve had for years and years. Of course I didn’t want it to end.
I loved this book, the ending was perfect!
I have read this book many times, but this is the first time I’ve listened to the audiobook. I love the story! I think the characters stay true to the original. The new characters that are introduced are interesting. There is a bit of a cringy factor, I have to admit. As far as the narrator, she isn’t so bad, but her voice sounds much too old to represent Scarlett.
I have always loved the movie gone with the wind but have never read the book. this book definitely goes into a lot more details at almost 70 hours you really realize that the villain of this story is actually Ashley! it was beautifully narrated and highly highly recommend it.
I wanted to love this book, but the feeling and emotion wasn’t there. With Gone with the Wind, I was listening whenever I could, even ignoring my kids. This book, however dragged on and I kept trying to get interested, but couldn’t. The passion of Scarlett wasn’t there. It was lacking in description of Rhett throughout the book too that really made him so attractive in the original book. I had no passion for this book. Maybe the movie is better. The narrator did a good job, but that’s about it.
Ahhhh Scarlett. Only you can have such a life and love such a man as Rett Butler. Looked up some of the Irish lore. Sounds to me like author got it pretty close to reality. The entire book kept me entertained. I seem to remember a movie based on this book. Sure glad the book was better. The narrator with her Irish accent put me in mind of the movie silent man with John Wayne. And the horses called hunters. Good sequel to gone with the wind.
I love this book, the way the narrator acts out the characters is what made listening to the book more alive. Instead of just plain old reading it sure wasn't boring. If you love gone with the wind book on here, you will love this book even more.
Linda Stephens is a captivating narrator. I love her ability to use her voice in such a way the reader knows exactly who is speaking. Her gift of reading slowly and deliberately enriches the story. The story itself was a bit disappointing to me. I assumed Scarlet would remain a true southerner not go to Ireland and assume wearing peasant clothes was fine. The boisterous girl of Clayton County who loved beautiful dresses and hats would not think being drab was okay
