Revelation Space

I could not understand half of it with the horrible accents. As far as the book itself, I'll never know unless it comes out with a decent narrator.

i could not seem to follow the story or relevance. Multiple start-overs didn't seem to help me.

Narrator sounds like he has a mouthful of marbles for half his accents. Made it just too hard to follow.

One of the best narrators in the business and an excellently thrilling book.

Boring and lackluster

it's an Amazing series this along with his other stories! I would put the Revelation Space series in one of the best and highly overlooked! and a refreshing breath compared to the Starwars series they should be filming this instead!

the story not easy to follow with the heavy accents, if it were a TV show I would need subtitles. You follow a few character stories in this book, but unfortunately there is no pause or indication of when you switch characters. maybe this won't bother others, but I would probably have a much better time reading this book, rather than listening to it.

A solid kick off to a 3-4 part series. Tough to find very likable characters, and dialogue seems forced at times. The best character here is arguably the ship itself which is absolutely fascinating.The real draw here is the overarching storyline which is gripping, and Reynolds draws back the curtain on it at just the right pace leading into a pretty frenetic final set piece. If you've read Chasm City (standalone) beforehand, you'll have a nice primer to the world going in. Great sci fi read even if it's mostly for the fantastic plot and incredibly imaginative tech. As mentioned in other reviews, the narration can be hit or miss depending on your preferences.

I zoned in and out while listening to this audiobook and don't think I will be returning to it any time soon. Frankly, I just can't get immersed into the worlds Alastair Reynolds creates.

brilliant scenarios with mind-bending consequences and amazing developments as one reads further. The narration is strong, I think that there should be a few seconds between one section and the next, especially when the narration is changing characters.

Deep, takes concentration to absorb, but interesting. I’m still trying to figure out the ending.

oh wow, this is a real gem. I just came from reading the Red Rising series (which was flawed but nonetheless entertaining) and having listened to this I now see what a considerably more (sorry this seems like a slight) mature author can do. This, not that I'm an author or even an authorized person to be commenting on authors (bless them one and all), is nuanced, intelligent, absorbing and really doesn't "spoon feed" the reader; you find yourself drawn in from the first paragraph and although (for me anyway) there are some mental stretches required, the rewards are there in abundance. Just a thoroughly enjoyable piece and if you're reading this review this far (thanks)I can't but recommend it with total enthusiasm. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Very complex. Interwoven storylines that continuously jumps from one to the other. Great narrator, but too detailistic

Having read this amazing book when it was first released - and many times after, it has truly set the highest standard for interwoven and complex story lines augmented with thrilling technology and some of the wildest adventures ever!

John Lee is a wonderfully brilliant narrator.. He gets into the characters persona of the book with with ease and is always consistent with the individual attributes of each character.. Sometimes the otherworldly deep brush accents can be a tiny bit hard to understand but lends quite well to what you would think a character would sound like as if you were standing in the room the action is happening..
