Summary
Spade. People know what to expect when they hear my last name. Billionaire. Alphahole. The forever bachelor. Heir to Spade Hotels, one of the most luxurious brands in the world. Want to know what they would never call me? Boyfriend. Until her. With one glance at her in the club, I’m ready to claim her for the night. Dark, flowing hair. A smile that causes my heart to pound. Eyes that pierce my soul. And a perfect body that makes every part of me pulse. She’s addictive. Electrifying. Consuming. I’ve never wanted anyone more. Our eyes meet, but she looks right past me. She isn’t here for me. She’s here for the music. For the first time in my life, a woman makes me work for it. Her indifference fuels the fire inside me. The result? One night. No names. No introductions. Just pleasure. The way I’ve always liked it. But now, I find myself fantasizing about this gorgeous stranger, and I swear I can still feel the softness of her skin and taste her on my lips. The minute I saw her, a switch flipped inside me. Now, how do I stop this raging…obsession? When our paths cross again in the most unexpected way, I’m on a mission to make her mine. But what happens when she wants nothing to do with me?

Mr Playboy by Marni Mann is a billionaire, he falls first, instalove story. This book is the first in a new Spade Hotel series, and spin-off of The Dalton Family, whose characters appear frequently within this book. I listened to this book in audiobook form and found the narrators perfect for the dual POV book. I really enjoyed this story. I’m a sucker for a playboy turned dedicated partner, and that is what Macon embodies in this book. Brooklyn is a strong, independent young woman on the cusp of starting her adult life, and Macon is incredibly supportive of her aspirations. As with The Dalton series, it is pretty spicy. I would definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy spicy, contemporary romance novels. I am voluntarily writing this review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook.

Good novel but not much mystery as her other ones.

This is the first book in the new Spade Hotel series from Marni Mann. Macon and Brooklyn’s love story was entertaining and such a great read. Brooklyn was a strong independent heroine, and I loved how determined she was to pave her way. Macon was a strong hero, seeing him fall first was a nice change. Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood did a really nice job portraying these characters.

love that we can get an aspect of characters introduced, now we just need a part 2 for them all so we know how it's going...

There’s no depth, says the FMC is “different” but idk why or how.. looks? Was that it? And I’m not sure as to why there’s a female and male narrator, but yet she still reads his lines in her POV chapters and vice versa. I cant focus on anything other than how much he doesn’t sound like a woman and she doesn’t sound like a man. I couldn’t finish it. .

I really liked this story! And Savannah Peachwood is a 5 star narrator. But Thom almost ruined this for me. He kind of sounds like if Captin Kirk and Patrick Warburton had a baby and this is what the baby's voice and speech patern was like. loosen up my guy.

Steamy porn posing as romance mixed in with a weak storyline. Romantic stories generally have the same elements: a meet cute, getting close to each other, the inevitable misunderstanding that causes an argument and then reconciliation. This uses that same theme but it’s just a bunch of single steamy porn scenes woven into the weak romantic storyline. The obligatory misunderstanding is ridiculous at best. I enjoy a steamy story as much as anyone, but the framework around it was unconvincing. I found myself yelling at the woman JUST TELL HIM!!!

Arrogant billionaire rescues plucky smart poor girl isn't my favourite trope and I found it hard to warm to the characters in this book. But it's a decent example of this type of story and with plenty of passionate scenes if that's what you're looking for.

Definitely steamy, but not all contemporary love stories have to be constantly vulgar language. Perhaps I’m showing my age!
