Summary
A New York Times bestseller | A Good Morning America Book Club Pick

Chosen as a best book of the year by The New York Times | Time | NPR | USA Today | Elle | Harper’s Bazaar | Town & Country | Vogue | BBC | POPSUGAR | Goodreads | theSkimm

“The season’s first beach read, a delicious romp of a debut featuring family crises galore.”— The New York Times

“A delicious new Gilded Age family drama… a guilty pleasure that also feels like a sociological text.” —Vogue

A deliciously funny, sharply observed debut of family, love, and class, this zeitgeisty novel follows three women in one wealthy Brooklyn clan

Darley, the eldest daughter in the well-connected old money Stockton family, followed her heart, trading her job and her inheritance for motherhood but giving up far too much in the process; Sasha, a middle-class New England girl, has married into the Brooklyn Heights family, and finds herself cast as the arriviste outsider; and Georgiana, the baby of the family, has fallen in love with someone she can’t have, and must decide what kind of person she wants to be.

Rife with the indulgent pleasures of life among New York’s one-percenters, Pineapple Street is a smart, escapist novel that sparkles with wit. Full of recognizable, loveable—if fallible—characters, it’s about the peculiar unknowability of someone else’s family, the miles between the haves and have-nots, and the insanity of first love—all wrapped in a story that is a sheer delight.

Loved it so much.. a little cheer was needed. I walk a lot and made walking more enjoyable. Loved the Narrator so much.

An unfortunate and accurate look into the life of the ultra rich but some sort of silly, dramatic or interesting family history or event would have made it a much better read. Sorry, it was just meh.

entertaining

I am always down for a dysfunctional family dramedy but wow, there wasn't a likable one in the bunch. Every one of them was more insufferable than the next. Georgiana was so unlikable and even after her change of heart and wanting to give away all of her wealth to charity she was still a spoiled brat. I'm not even sure why Sasha and Cord were a couple and they did nothing in the book to make us understand why they were. If anything its as if they want you to see why they will never work. The matriarch and patriarch of the family are just old money uppity socialites who know nothing of the real world and are so out of touch with reality. The only couple with some semblance of normalcy were Darley and Malcolm but even Darley is annoying. I guess it all stems from their upbringing and not knowing any better how the world really works but it made it really hard for me to give a flip about any of them...

Easy light reading about the rich

Boring. The reviews are misleading. I did not find this book entertaining.

Entertaining. Not terribly complex. Narrator was great

I was really disappointed. Reviews made this sound like a fun, sort of escape-y summer type read. I found the characters to be only semi-interesting and nothing of the plot ever actually got to the point that it actually was interesting! It felt like it was building to things and then the thing would happen and it wasn’t anywhere near as dramatic or exciting as it should have. The sort of redemption that was supposed to happen with this “rich family who just doesn’t get it but then they finally come around and get it” never really happened either.

Funny and enjoyable.

This was a great book. I loved how the family came together at the end.
