Summary
Mags Barkworth still suffers the effects of a life-changing tragedy over a decade ago.

She knows her husband loves her. She knows he would never do anything to hurt her, or their daughter. But what if the voice in her head, the one she's pushed away with therapy and anti-depressants, is telling the truth?

What if it's all a lie?

When Tam, their daughter, draws an uncannily detailed picture of a place she's never been, Mags's life starts to unravel. But even in her most paranoid moment, Mags could never have guessed the secret she is destined to uncover.

I really loved listening to this book. The narrator did a great job when having to change his voice for the characters.

It was a pretty decent book. A few slow times in the story, but overall food, with some great twists. Narrator wasn’t the greatest with the accents, but he gets an A for effort!

I thought I had it figured out, only to find out I was wrong. That, to me, is a good mystery. I’m now a fan of this Author

Enjoyed the story but didn’t rate the narration. American accents are awful. The intonation of the characters is not compelling.

Not as good as I thought it would be.

The narrator who was British was great with the characters speaking British English. But he should have never tried to speak in an American Southern or Boston accent. It was terrible and distracted the listener. He could have just used his normal dialect but maybe changed the pitch of his voice. Ideally they should have had a second narrator do the reading of the characters with the Southern accents and Boston Accents.

I was eager for this book to be over almost as soon as I started listening. The conversations between the protagonist and her daughter (and dad with daughter) always sounded like she was talking to a six-year-old, not an eleven-year-old. The constant talk about Tam's period at the beginning of the book really put me off. The author really struggled with foreshadowing and building tension. I probably missed a lot of the exposition of why things were happening they way they were because my thoughts kept wandering towards the end as I waited for the story to be over. Some of the problem also lies with the narration. The narrator cannot do a Boston accent at all. He sounded like a 1940's attempt at a private detective in an old tyme movie. All of his american accents were atrocious. Even though this is sci-fi/fantasy, the setting is in the "real world." There are ways to make magic and unexplained mental powers sound believable in a "real world" setting. What the author does in this book is quite disappointing.

New idea. Excellent narration, but accents was mixed up.

The book was ok. I have 2 years on audiobooks. This book is above average, the narrator was very good. For a non-American, I could not see the not-so-American accent another fellow reader mentions. I could clearly see the difference between the characters...

This was a really good book! The only thing that bothered me was the narrators HORRIBLE American accent. It was SO bad, and didn’t even go along with the places that the people came from in the book. I’m surprised that no one worked on it. Other then that, he was a fantastic narrator, and the story was good.

I wasn’t sure about this book. However, it was very good. It has murders, mystery, horror and an unexpected ending. Thankfully there is no gory writing. It is very well narrated by Matthew Lloyd Davies who has a great range of voices.
