Summary
Now a major motion picture! Stephen King’s #1 New York Times bestseller is a “wild, powerful, disturbing” (The Washington Post Book World) classic about evil that exists far beyond the grave—among King’s most iconic and frightening novels.

When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Despite Ludlow’s tranquility, an undercurrent of danger exists here. Those trucks on the road outside the Creed’s beautiful old home travel by just a little too quickly, for one thing…as is evidenced by the makeshift graveyard in the nearby woods where generations of children have buried their beloved pets. Then there are the warnings to Louis both real and from the depths of his nightmares that he should not venture beyond the borders of this little graveyard where another burial ground lures with seductive promises and ungodly temptations. A blood-chilling truth is hidden there—one more terrifying than death itself, and hideously more powerful. As Louis is about to discover for himself sometimes, dead is better…

Stephen King has been my favourite writer for over 30 years and this audiobook does not disappoint. Hall is amazing in his narration and he helps make the picture in your mind come to life.

Michael C. Hall is an amazing narrator

This was a very very good book. My only complaint is the big event that happens is wrapped up in about an hour and a half. The detail in the actual “scary” part is very rushed and barely even touched compared to everything else.

Just as I remember! I read the paper back novel many many moons ago! As an adult, I did find the book a little rushed. I do know the backstory of the writing of this book so I am not surprised. It was well written and the narration was great! Definitely a great read! You will not be disappointed.

Stephen King is the king and this might be one of his best of all time in my opinion. You lose yourself in the minds and hearts of the characters and King does such a masterful job of making you become part of them. He's just so gifted at writing and story telling that you can't help but fall deeper and deeper into the story. The narrator really brings the characters to life too, especially Judd. I've never seen the movie but I know it can't live up to this book.

Michael C Hall did an AMAZING job with narrating this. Every character felt so alive in classic King fashion, really elevated by Hall’s performance. I think this is my favorite King book now.

Remember that beloved pup you didn't want to put in the ground? Or the goldfish that Ma flushed down the porcelain heavens? It became evident early bon that "Heaven" must not need our bodies. But the neighbor in this New England family's new town knows of the perfect place to bring a pet you just can't let go of yet. The cemetery...on a native burial or sacred grounds? Awww..heck. Sometimes... sometimes you really don't want those pets to come back. Once they have been to the other side. They won't be the same. They won't love you the way they did.

You think you’re on a fairly tame journey with a family THEN King hits you with a 30 minute gut punch that twists and turns and leaves you out of breath, but needing more. Excellent book, Kings’ best imo.

Who better to narrate than Dexter?! He does an amazing job reading this well written book. I love how King brings aspects of different books he's written in to other books. Leaves me wondering if Pennywise the dancing clown is terrorizing Derry as the pet cemetary lures in its next victim... love Stephen King!

The book is sooo much better than the movie. The book is terrifying as it can find a way to impact the reader regardless of age or family dynamic. The narrator makes the story even more enjoyable as he changes his voice for the character when applicable and overall sounds as haunting as the story. Would definitely recommend

Such a chilling ending. I nearly stopped listening toward the end, because the punches kept coming, but... that’s also why I like SK’s writing. And Michael C. Hall’s narration is the best ever! He gives each character their own energy. It’s awesome.

Very good book. King never fails to captivate his readers (listeners in this case, I guess.), and this book is no exception. It was interesting to hear, at the beginning, what King had to say about writing this one. The film that was originally made doesn’t do the book justice at all. It will be interesting to see how well the remake does. Excellent narrator! Michael C. Hall reads well and does it in such a manner that keeps you wanting to listen.

I loved hearing Stephen King speak at the beginning of this book, thinking he may have gone too far with the horror this time haha! Pet Sematary was a wild ride and I looked forward to my long commute everyday. The ending was chilling. The narration was outstanding and that’s rare.

Maybe I’m crazy but I think Stephen King can be very overrated... don’t come for me for this. This book is like his others, yes they are creepy but very slow. Michael C hall did a great job narrating and this is a great movie but I personally like other authors more but I always route for an underdog.

I'd read this book many years ago and it's just as awesome as I remember! Stephen King is beyond a master!! The audiobook brings something else to the table. Hearing the story play out in Michel C. Halls voice was brilliant! So, even if you have read Pet Semetary, just as I had, do yourself a favor and listen.

Having read this novel years ago when it first came out and then watching the movie later, I only looked at it for the scare factor. Listening to this story this time, with perfect narration by Michael C. Hall, I realized the real message behind the scare. What would any of us do to bring back a loved one who has passed on. What cost? This time, the story became more emotional for me, more meaningful. Great novel, a very dark and disturbing subject matter, done only the way Stephen King can do it.
