Summary
New York Times bestselling author Nelson DeMille returns with another heart-pounding John Corey thriller—this time including Corey’s FBI agent wife Kate Mayfield… and their mission is to catch an elusive terrorist mastermind before he catches them.

Anti-Terrorist Task Force agent John Corey and his wife, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, have been posted overseas to Sana'a, Yemen-one of the most dangerous places in the Middle East. While there, they will be working with a small team to track down one of the masterminds behind the USS Cole bombing: a high-ranking Al Qaeda operative known as The Panther. Ruthless and elusive, he's wanted for multiple terrorist acts and murders-and the U.S. government is determined to bring him down, no matter the cost. As latecomers to a deadly game, John and Kate don't know the rules, the players, or the score. What they do know is that there is more to their assignment than meets the eye-and that the hunters are about to become the hunted.

Filled with breathtaking plot turns and told in John Corey's inimitable voice, The Panther is a brilliant depiction of one of the most treacherous countries in the world and raises disturbing questions about whether we can ever know who our enemies - or our allies - really are.

Not exactly what I was expecting but a good read nonetheless.

Good but I tired of some of the long-winded outhouse descriptions and became confused over some of the location names..

Have you ever listened to an info-commercial where you were teased and teased about the product and you kept hanging on sure something incredible was ahead just to find out what it was and spent the rest of the morning upset that you waited all that time for an anti-climatic ending. This is similar. And what's worse is it was predictable. If DeMille wrote this I'd be shocked. Did not feel like a DeMille read. His write is intriguing, suspenseful, riveting....this book is more of a peak into a day in the life of John Corey and oh by the way we kill a bad guy in a 2 minute climax at the end of the book. I don't know. I love DeMille but I wasn't crazy about this book. I will say this, I belly laughed quite a few times. A lot of humor in this book that made the read well worth the time. Interesting back story about the culture in Yemen. This would be a terrific drinking game book for a college fraternity if the key word was Cot!! I believe he said this word 300 times in this book. Left scratching my head. A funny Nelson DeMille tale.

DeMille used to be a wonderful writer but the last couple of books seem to just ramble. My wife and I both decided not to even listen to the second set of CDs.
