Not the best Bosch but good enought to hold my interest. Didn't see the end "twist" until very late so Connelly did a good job of hiding it. I recommend it as a good read for a cold winter day but not as a classic suspense novel.
Great book, I love the entire series. I didn't realize there was a TV show on Netflix as well and it's great too!
This was a very interesting read, uh..I mean listen. Good characters and good voice from the actor. I was entertained throughout. Additionally, I learned quite a bit about radiation treatment for cancers and now understand how radiation is used to treat in small doses.
On an interesting note, the day after I finished it, there was an article in the USA Today addressing Dirty Bombs, Terrorist Plots, and Ceasium. I didn't even know what Ceasium was and had no idea terrorists were out to get this stuff and the book obviously had incredible research and was accurate to the tee. I never would have read the article in the USA Today if I hadn't rented this selection!
One truly learns from fiction as well as non-fiction.
There is something appealing about the character Harry Bosch. Maybe it is his willingness to push the limits, question authority, or his belief that rules should only be followed if they make sense or don't stand in the way of getting to the truth. The plot of The Overlook is not at all complex, and the ending probably won't take you by surprise, but with Harry Bosch as the lead detective, it is entertaining.
Liked the story a lot! Thought the reader needed to practice his accents however. The Cuban-Am detective sounded like he was from Dublin, Irleand.
Not the greatest of books. A so-so read. I was glad it wasn't longer.
If you are a Harry Bosch fan, get this one. It is a good read although short and fast.
Not many discs so story moves quickly. I'm a fan of the Bosch series, but this one lacked the intensity of a good intrigue. Still it's a good read.
Thank goodness this book was only 5 CD's. I finished it but agree with other reviewers that it wasn't one of his best... If you are a Connelly fan then I would still recommend it.
Listened to the book on my morning commute to work. The plot was very timely. Electrifying? Probably not. But, definitely worth listening to. Loved the twist in the story.
Connelly doesn't dissapoint. Bosch fans will enjoy this book.
Another excellent Harry Bosch. If you have never read Michael Connelly, please start with this one. It's not the first Harry Bosch story (he's the detective) but it will leave you wanting to read all the rest.
Another good Harry Bosch book. If you like the character, this isn't his best but it's entertaining and easy to listen to.
Not one of my favorite stories. The narrator was good, but I had a hard time getting involved in the story. Too much time was spent on the maneuvering between the local and federal law enforcement, which I tired of quickly.
Another great Harry Bosch story! Of course, since I'm an L.A. native, that makes these stories even more fun for me! Michael Connelly knows L.A. and he's right-on about the streets and the attitudes that go with all the diverse sections of this wonderful and beautiful city. It's a great story and, as always, Harry Bosch is my hero.
Loved this book. Just started to listen to Michael Connelly books. Keeps you on the edge fo your seat.
Very strong work about a complicated man. I learned about the borderline abuse he suffered at the end by his son. It's noteworthy that portions of an interview with Williams are included at the end.
