Unabridged Audiobook
So utterly heart breaking to hear the real truth behind this horrific war. The author is amazing in description and detail. The reader is unfaltering.
The content is well crafted. It can be graphic in places, but you really get a feel for what those troops went through. Well written and well narrated.
Interesting story lines but very silly attempt by the narrator to imitate English accents
Excellent telling from the troops perspective. The subtle details gives the story living, breathing life
I liked it a lot
There are some strange pronunciations by the American read but he did a very good job over all the 19 hours of reading! The book is a first hand account of the war by a journalist who was knighted for his services to journalism. He was very close to being injured and possibly killed at various time. I thought that he gives a very impartial and well balanced account of the entire war and it’s main characters, albeit with the benefit of hindsight and reflection
