Summary
Llewelyn Moss, hunting antelope near the Rio Grande, instead finds men shot dead, a load of heroin, and more than $2 million in cash. Packing the money out, he knows, will change everything. But only after two more men are murdered does a victim's burning car lead Sheriff Bell to the carnage out in the desert, and he soon realizes how desperately Moss and his young wife need protection. One party in the failed transaction hires an ex-Special Forces officer to defend his interests against a mesmerizing freelancer, while on either side are men accustomed to spectacular violence and mayhem. The pursuit stretches up and down and across the border, each participant seemingly determined to answer what one asks another: how does a man decide in what order to abandon his life? A harrowing story of a war that society is waging on itself, and an enduring meditation on the ties of love and blood and duty that inform lives and shape destinies, No Country for Old Men is a novel of extraordinary resonance and power.

Excellent book, excellent narration. I'll be listening to this one again, I'm sure.

This is a very special book. I saw the film first, tremendously enjoying that, and thought the original text (via this audiobook) would be worthwhile, even though I had found two other CMcC’s books heavy going. I recommend No Country unreservedly. It is gritty, edge-of-your-seat, and emotional stuff, that forms strong connections with characters and fluently takes the reader with it at every stage. The style is easy to follow. The narrator here I thought was genuinely excellent. The last few paras of the book smash me (emotionally) every time I listen to them. I hope you enjoy it as I did.

Excellent narration with a gripping storyline! But I must say, some parts are a bit confusing, but I loved how the story unfolded.

Book: Over all it's a fairly amazing book. Having loved the movie, I always wanted to get to this. Over all I'm fairly happy. There was some parts that felt a little anti-climatic, and the last 30-45 minutes can probably just be cut. Its more of just character development, which seems almsot pointless since the story is over, but over I still think it was worth it. Narration: Amazing. This guy got the tone down perfectly for this story. Characters were distinct enough to tell who was talking, the pacing was fairly consistent. Did an amazing job.

Cormac McCarthy just has a way with words. A born story teller, words hang ponderously, like the landscapes he describes and the people with whom he populates those landscapes. There are so many times you want to look away, but his compelling words dare you to read on to the end. Yet another masterpiece and commentary on the world that we have created.

Got a bit lost at the end.

Confusing start, bewilderment will reside for quite some time, slow paced characters introductions. After that incidents occurs in a rapid pace, and it gets superb toward the middle and the end. But it will retrieve to the boringly cumbersome pace in the last two chapters, other than that i would’ve given it a 5 stars! The narration is the best part of this book. It was magnificently compatible.

Very well read but I did not enjoy the book as much as the movie. Maybe that is because I saw the Movie.
