Summary
Jodi Picoult, bestselling author of My Sister's Keeper and Small Great Things, pens her most riveting book yet with a startling and poignant story about the devastating aftermath of a small-town tragedy.

Sterling is an ordinary New Hampshire town where nothing ever happens--until the day its complacency is shattered by a school shooting. Josie Cormier, the daughter of the judge sitting on the case, should be the state's best witness, but she can't remember what happened before her very own eyes--or can she? As the trial progresses, fault lines between the high school and the adult community begin to show--destroying the closest of friendships and families. Nineteen Minutes asks what it means to be different in our society, who has the right to judge someone else, and whether anyone is ever really who they seem to be.

I have so many mixed emotions about this book. Nineteen minutes is a Sociologists dream study. The insightfulness is amazing. The Bully Syndrome is a fantastic theory. Twists and turns inside the mind of a boy in a society based on athletics, intelligence and popularity. When you are “different” it is a hard world. Kids are mean, cruel. If you don’t fit inside the box you are not accepted anywhere from school to home. No support. Kids mental states are fragile. How 1 or 10 kids react to something doesn’t mean child 11 will react the same. Then the twist...continued abuse ends in death Is it a psychopath or the result of being bullied, pressure to be popular? ~BE SOMEONE~

The book was very well written. The author kept you on your toes and the details were very vivid. The narration was good. I enjoyed it all together.

Truly riveting. Having lived in Colorado at the time, I know the stresses the parents and the students went through. Tough read, just remembering.

Love the book. This author never fails to impress me. Some parts are hard to hear but needed to be included. High school students should be required to read this book.

very well researched and written. Picoult has a grip on your emotions, twists and turns them inside out and by the time you finish reading you are out of breath and completely empty. this book forces you to question social structure, politics, educational and judicial systems in the US and makes you realize how powerless her citizens are....

This book really made me look at this subject from the other side. Good story and well read.

This was a good novel, albeit an overly long one that seemed to go on forever. I found myself enjoying the book, but cringing during much of the narration. All of the male characters sounded like old smokers.

Very long start. Then the story got really good. Classic Picoult. Worth every minute.
