Unabridged Audiobook
I didn't know the author before, so I had zero expectations towards the story. It's pretty straightforward and even as the reader/listener, who knows about the thoughts of the main characters, I found myself on edge at times, wanting to yell: "don't trust that person!!" You may say that the story is predictable, but the characters - or the emotions between the characters - made me want to know more and what's happening next. I may be biased, cause I really like girl-solidarity and usually hate the broken-person-who-trusts-noone trope... It was a really entertaining listen - like the action-adventure movie I want to see on a friday night, with a few loose ends. The narrator does a really good job interpreting all the different characters and I enjoyed the pace off the reading.
The story was compelling and interesting! The narrator's voice too often became "shrilly" when trying to express emotion for Zoe and/or Lucy. It happened so often that it was annoying to listen to.
She tied in a past novel with this one like her dad does. Could have given a little more background about the town. Would love to listen to a sequel, and could have added good against evil.
I loved this book! Unexpected in places and gripping. Couldn’t stop going back to it as I wanted to know how this plays out.
Great read, but slow start. It was worth tuffing through the beginning. A bit unrealistic, but edge of the seat exciting.
Enjoyed

I couldn’t get in to it. I guess it’s just not for me.
