Summary
For a mother, life comes down to a series of choices. To hold on…to let go…to forget…to forgive.… Which road will you take? For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows—her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm’s way. It has always been easy—until senior year of high school tests them all. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time Mia and Zach leave the house, she worries about them.On a hot summer’s night her worst fears are realized. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget…or the courage to forgive.Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.“A rich, multilayered reading experience, and an easy recommendation for book clubs.” —Library Journal (starred review)“You cannot read Night Road and not be affected by the story and the characters. The total impact of the book will stay with you for days to come after it is finished.” —The Huffington Post

I loved this book! I couldn't wait to be able to continue the story. It was one of the most emotional books I have read lately and although Jude's character was frustrating Kristin showed how grief can take over your whole life.

Kristin Hannah is one of the people I would give both my arms and legs to, to get to meet, have dinner, and talk books with. She is awesome, and is one of my favorite authors.

This was a great book, but a long read. Some of the grief could've been reduced some, although when something tragic happens, the grief is long and unbearable. There were parts where I found myself crying, so feelings were well-conveyed. I often felt something bad was happening, but realized I had thinking about the book. The narrator did an excellent job of letting us know who the characters were by the change in voice. Overall, this was a great read!!

The last few hours of the book were great but the first 10 hours dragged on and on, I almost stopped listening I have read enough of her books to know that they end up getting better but even keeping that in mind, it was too boring.

This one is very emotional. At moments I found myself disliking the characters and then I found myself relating to them.

I enjoy this author. A cautionary story for the young. Invincible teens who have their hole lives ahead of them and suddenly have to live with the consequences of a single night.

Another Kristin Hannah book that I really enjoyed listening to, although very predictable. My only negative comment would be that it frustrated me that Jude never really took responsibility for the accident. She was as responsible, if not more, than the kids. But, all in all, a fun read and I thought the narration was good too.

Beautifully written. Listening to it was like eating a piece of dark chocolate or rich cheesecake. Sometimes it felt like too much and I needed to step away. I’m glad so didn’t give up on it. It was well worth getting through the heaviness to the reach the ending.

read because I liked another Tina French book. I wasn't a huge fan of the beginning, but I really enjoyed the ending.

Book got a little boring and the narrator made the female characters sound as if they were in middle school. Overall message was good.

Good book but the mother Jude is so self centered that it started to irritate me.
