Unabridged Audiobook
Was hoping for more fantasy and Greek mythology not a sex novel
Overall the story line was pretty good. I wasn't expecting it to be as much of an erotica book as it was, but that didn't bother me so much. The climax (no pun intended) of the book was a little lack luster I feel more could have been done there. I also wasn't a huge fan of how many times they mentioned over and over the "time will come to and end" (will make more sense if yiu read the book, don't want to ruin it)it was far to repetitive. I would love some more backstory of the characters, maybe a spinoff?
Absolutely great! So Spicy
Couldn’t even get to chapter 10.
DNF but shoutout to the narrators
This book is a wonderful example that consent is SEXY!
The two narrators Did not fit the characters. the author made my mind see. The male sounded very feminine and I pictured a scrawny guy with glasses and hot pink hair. however, Hades was supposed to be tall, dark and rugged. He was supposed to be a very masculine man. Persephone sounded like a 12-year-old who was pretending to be a british adult. You know what I mean, because every little girl did this growing up haha. Each of them would be speaking and then would do an imitation voice of the other character and it was horrible!! Hades was annoyingly critical and whiny about Persephone's lack of ability to take care of her body and put way too much focus. she was injured when she was running for fear of her life and then she was in a strange place and was putting on a tough guy act to try to hold her own and he relentlessly complained about it. I was really hoping for this dark and steamy exotic romantic book and by the end of it I was like oh okay. The narrators had the opportunity to make these characters sound powerful and imprint on me, but they both sounded like mocking teenagers. tye book and the author's writing with the exception of the basically body shaming was a decent book. It leads me to wonder if the authors are allowed to pick who reads their stories, because it's the narrators that make or break these.
This is one of those stories where it depends on what you're looking for. I was suggested this story because it was in the same vein as Hades, Lore Olympus, and Immortals by Jordanna Max Brodsky; however, this was not that. Dark Olympus is not about the gods of Olympus, so if that is what you're looking for, this MIGHT not be for you. Further, while this is an adult novel, it more more erotic than plot, which is disappointing because the story has some interesting plot choices, but once the adult material kicks in, that is the focus. Sadly, the ending is also rush, so it makes it hard to REALLY enjoy this and want to get into the sequels. If there was more balance, this could have been a 4 or 5 star EASILY. When it comes to the narrating, the narrators struggled with doing voices of the opposite sex. If you want some decent exhibitionism and adult scenes, definitely worth a look. If you're after a fun mythology story, you might do better to listen to Mythos by Stephen Fry.
Greek and Roman mythology lore brought into a different type of more modern settings of fantasy. Also sexy and can't put it down waiting on the next thing to happen. love it.
I always like the story of Persephone and Hades, but didn’t like how they tried to add cell phones and modern technology into the Roman times. Smut was off the charts just to warn the next reader! Not something to listen to when kids are around
Not bad but not good either, not enough fantasy for my tastes
The male narrator has the tendency to speak the female main character in a whiny voice. But as someone else has said: you get used to it. I liked the idea of the spin on the Greek myth.
Good book for adults.
I wasn't sure what to expect but OMG! AMAZING! I had troubles waiting to listen to it next. I have looked forward to my listen everyday since I started. the book had a great story line, it was funny and the sex ohhh the sex. love it!
Didn't expect a bad version of 50 Shades of Grey. Was a lot of sex (erotica) not Greek mythology. Just BAD!
Very sexy and well done.
I thought it was going to be more about mythological figures, but I ended up enjoying the story anyway. Fun to get lost in. I love the voice actors as well.
Out of all the Greek retellings this is just ok. Good for a quick romance listen but not something that I will reread/listen.
It’s not really my style… I wouldn’t have picked the book for myself, but overall it was okay.
I got a modern day mythical/political fifty shades of grey vibe from this haha. I enjoyed it but would say don't read it if -you find kinks and/or smut cringe -you think that Hades is going to be the bad boy rapy trend that seems to be going around - you are looking for a strong mythical/fantasy world. If you're expecting a Percy Jackson sort of thing with lots of magic, action and mythical creatures this won't be for you. That stuff was practically non existent. you might enjoy this book if you like kinky concentual smut, a dark gentleman main character, "villains" perspective, politics, a strong female protagonist, romance, and something different from traditional mythology. I enjoyed it but not sure if I will bother with the rest of the series. oh and the narrators were great!
muy bueno
Honestly was an AMAZING book. Got me out of my reading slump
Excellent from sex laughter and mythology
Felt like very little plot involved, and a lot of sex scenes just for the sake of them. Also the female narrator’s Haides voice was awful.
I don’t know why they chose to make the narrators British, most of the vernacular is very American. Kinda takes you out of the story, might be a better read than a listen.
Hardly any world building, but I struggled to listen because of the female narrators male voices + the male narrators female voices were so bad.
Not for me. I normally hate to leave a book unfinished, but in this case with 6 hours remaining it was not worth the cringe.
i get the intrigue with the kink themes. it's definitely spicy, but i can't deal with the whole "the only way to save myself is public sex with a stranger" storyline
I did not know, from the synopsis, that this book was essentially 50 shades of Grey with Greek Mythology sprinkled in. I was not expecting the graphic sex. And worse, the narrator makes me cringe when she does her “Hades” voice. He sounds like a really old man and then that sounds really creepy with the smutty things he is saying. Very, very cringe worthy.
loved the book. so hot.
Not for me, though I was in when I read the synopsis. This is erotic fiction, so if you like that, try it. I don’t
Pure smut.
This book was an awesome read...the narrators were a lovely. I was expecting the Greek Gods to have powers but other than that I loved it.
The Zane of Greek mythology. This isba sexy version about the Greek Gods. Very intriguing
