Abridged Audiobook
Carlin is funny as always....If you like him you'll like this.
Horrible. This foul attempt at humor consisted either of hate-filled obscene ramblings or of rehashed schtick from WAY back when he was actually funny. If you want to hear it, go rent the original tapes, but don't waste your time with this garbage. I tried forcing my way through it, but finally just had to turn it off.
Two stars is good for george carlin. When his biting hits bone, listeners mark him down. I hesitated to give him 5 stars because it would disturb the reverse proportionality of carlin ratings. But it really is worth a conventional 5. Regrettably, my "5" winds up giving this book a really mediocre-neither-here-nor-there composite rating -- which is not good because it is here -- and there.
The very important thing that George Carlin has to teach the world is "do you're own research/thinking, and decide truth for yourself". The shame is that this golden 'needle' is buried under a 'haystack' of angry, bitter crassness with no laugh track, so many will turn it off before learning that.
While listening to this didn't usually make me laugh out loud, it was fun to listen to. His need to question the language and habits of average Americans is at the same time funny and smart. The books flips back and forth between ranting monologues and a stream of one liners.
