Unabridged Audiobook
Although I'm quite nuts about my dogs, this book got a bit long. Interesting, but I recommend the abridged version.
Ted loves his dog and treats him as an equal. Even though they are obviously different species, they are best friends and both work and play together well. They hike, hunt, fish, socialize and even ski together. And Merle becomes the 'mayor' of his town making his rounds each day visiting people and other dogs. The story of Merle is interesting, engrossing and moving. The intertwined research of dogs can sometimes be dry and long winded, but the story itself is worth a listen. The lessons learned are mostly lessons about dogs taken from Ted's experience with Merle. This book is really not a life lesson for people, but more a lesson about dogs, how to treat them, what they want, and how to provide an environment that dogs would really enjoy.
