Summary
The ice is a cold mistress. As the league's most eligible goalie, Max Fournier has access to his fair share of willing puck bunnies, but right now he's more interested in bringing home another championship than a one-night stand. A romantic at heart, Max believes in love; he's just not great at relationships. So when he finally meets a nice girl who's not blinded by his celebrity, he's feeling the heat-and the pressure to save her from herself.

Between working two jobs and raising her sister's kids, Julianne Bradley doesn't have time for sports-or men. All she knows about Max is that he's the sexiest customer to ever grace her gas-station counter. And he sees past her tired eyes and makes Jules yearn for things she can't have: a glamorous fling, a passionate lover, and the time to enjoy both. Max makes her feel like Cinderella, even though Jules has enough baggage to crush a glass slipper. Luckily, he's no prince-only a fierce competitor determined to win her heart.

I am enjoying the Cold Fury series, there is alot of humor in this story and I always enjoy a story that makes me laugh and cry. I recommend this book if you like love stories.

The performance of the narrator definitely added to enjoyment of the story. I like sawyer bennet and I enjoy the cold fury series but this didn’t really do it for me. Max was too squeaky clean and his love interest had a huge chip on her shoulder about doing everything herself - I think the author intended this to show she wasn’t interested / impressed by Max’s wealth or celebrity but it just came off as contrived to me. Overall an enjoyable audiobook but I think it could have been so much better

I really enjoyed this sweet heart-warming story. The love story that builds from a such a great do-gooder NHL star player that sets out to help rescue this young very attractive woman, Jules. Her life has just recently been set on downward spiral in life where she's just trying to do the best with what life has thrown at her. Now, a single woman suddenly an instant "mother" of 3 after losing her sister after battling Cancer where the opportunist father isn't permanent part of my life.. Max just so happens finds her, who he finds beautiful in the midst of her hands-full situation unfolding and steps in while she's at work trying to hide the kids being there. That sets off the storyline. With her having her hands full, she doesn't recognize him as famous star athlete which intrigues him further fueling a desire for her. She's working her main job at a nursing home where Max is there as a Charity function and he recognizes her there. He finds on her on break and introduces her as customer from the night where he finds her "hidden llittles" while there working. She gets fired from working at convenience store where be originally met that night where she had the kids hidden there so she could keep job & money but he gets her job back. From there he builds up a trust for her and their relationship starts to build and blossom. In that he finds she has an amazing talent of being a great artist who can paint extremely well; only sucking him in more so gets her paintings looked at by Gallery owner he knows through teammate's wife's friend. He's finding helpful ways that are making things easier for her and the kids. Of course there's ups and downs along the way that tries to throw them off- course. The Male Narrator's voice was just a bit off-putting and much older tone for his age. I didn't care for it but with the story, I really enjoyed so just let myself get taken in by that than his voice. The Female Narrator does good so that helps. A really great story you won't regret and fell good giving some hope which we all could use hearing these days.
