The Man-Eaters of Tsavo

I'm currently listening to the book and it is very hard not to quit listening due to the female's reading. I know these books are read by volunteers but whoever she is should never be allowed to read again.

I have always loved the story of lions at Tsavo, as well as the adapted movie " The Ghost and the Darkness. It is great to hear from the man himself about his adventures. Sadly a couple of the narrators talked like robots and made it only possible to listen to due to the actual story. I am seriously considering volunteering to re-narrate the entire book but with actual enthusiasm. Good story for all, except young kids and vegan activists lol (lots of animals died in the creation of this original story)

The content, really wonderful, as I adore East Africa. But the narrators... that was not always easy, to be honest, even a bit messy. This book deserves much, much better...

I enjoyed this book very much.

I hate to bash the narration considering it’s a collaborative effort by volunteers but a certain narrator failed to read in the proper tenses. It made for an uncomfortable experience, which really did take away from the story. Unfortunately this certain narrator read way too many chapters.

Great book that is very engaging for those looking for an easy listen that retains that sense of historical adventure. The downside of this free book is that about 7-8 chapters are read by what is clearly a computer narrative. It is very annoying and difficult to ignore as you try to focus on the story. Highly recommend these chapters are re-recorded by an actual reader.

This is a great story. Quality-wise, if say it's shy of Little House on the Prairie but still worthwhile, especially if you're looking for adventure. Real-life stories beat fiction 9 out of 10 times anyway. Unfortunately, the narrator's are hard to listen to.
