Summary
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER

ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Suspense magazine • Stephen King calls Jack Reacher “the coolest continuing series character”—and now he’s back in this masterly new thriller from Lee Child.

“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there, and there’s something about Chang . . . so he teams up with her and starts to ask around. He thinks: How bad can this thing be? But before long he’s plunged into a desperate race through LA, Chicago, Phoenix, and San Francisco, and through the hidden parts of the internet, up against thugs and assassins every step of the way—right back to where he started, in Mother’s Rest, where he must confront the worst nightmare he could imagine.

Walking away would have been easier. But as always, Reacher’s rule is: If you want me to stop, you’re going to have to make me.

I knew something bad was going on but I totally surprised by what was actually going on. Also good to see that Jack is human and he can be hurt, but like the "man" he is, he powers through to find the truth. Great book and can't wait to for the next installment to see if Jack and Chang hook up, after all, he isn't getting any younger.

Always enjoy a Jack Reacher novel. Tom Cruise can't do this character justice.

It’s a great read and very exciting until the very end. I have deduced one star because of the extremely brutal content. It was so disturbing that I couldn’t stop thinking of it for a week after I have finished the book. But the plot was excellent and the narrator is brilliant.

as rivitng as the other Reacher Books. If you did not like the movie the books are are non comparable they are so much better. If you liked the movie you will love the books. I prefer the ones read by Dick Hill. maybe because he was the narrator of the first few I listened to.

As with all heroes all good things must come to an end. Ride or walk off into the sunset with your conscience clear. Do so my friend before your hands become so bloody they will never come clean.

Another fabulous Jack Reacher novel, read by the excellent Dick Hill, the 'voice of Reacher' for me. While it follows the usual story line as in Reacher saves the day, it is different in that this time Reacher gets hurt early in the story and is not really functioning at his best throughout the rest. Even though I tried to guess at what was really happening at Mother's rest , I did not find out until the end. And even though it was short and Child spared us more details it was really disturbing. The end seemed rushed and incomplete to me, I would have liked to know what happened to Mother's Rest afterwards.

I CANNOT STAND this narrator. One of the greatest things about audio books--and I love them--is listening to a good narrator, and if I could only remember the names of the ones I dislike, I could avoid the disappointment of getting a good book (Lee Child's Make Me) read by a bad narrator, I would save myself a lot of wasted time and money. Maybe Simply Audio could flag narrators that particular readers deplore? This guy--Dick Hill--has a cadence and distinctly unpleasant voice that simply takes over and the story disappears in the wrongness of the reading. Maybe it's just me, but this reader is at the bottom of my list.

Lee Child always does a great job with his character, Jack Reacher. Jack saves the day, as usual, but this time he has to overcome the effects of a concussion. This book he partners with Michelle Chang ( a developing love interest) to take out the bad guys. You don't discover the hidden secrets of Mother's Rest until the very end.

Well then, all one need know is that I can't wait to read or listen to the next Lee Child story. So exciting! Jack Reacher now occupies a very special place on my "shelf"!
