Summary
This is a charming tale from H.G. Wells about a young boy named Gip who visits a magic shop for his birthday with his father. But this is not just any magic shop - the shopkeeper insists that this is a genuine magic shop. The story is an entertaining adventure as Gip, like any young boy of his age, experiences the pure enjoyment of true magic while his skeptical father grapples with having to draw the line between slight of hand and genuine magic.
Reviews

Very nice story. Well worded as well as descriptively written.

It was a great short story. However the read of the narrator had no variation making it difficult to tell the differences between the characters.

The narrator sounds a bit automated but was otherwise clear.

The story itself is wonderful but the narration is terrible! If you want to hear the absolute best narration that you'll ever hear of this, go onto YouTube and look for the one which is narrated by Greg Wagland! He has a magical way of bringing this story to life along with different voices for each of the characters. I'd definitely give his version of this absolutely top marks!

The reader's monotonous voice and American accent made it hard for me to follow the narrative. I'm sure the story would have been enjoyable otherwise. Why can't English stories be delivered with an English accent? Over here, if I hear an American tale it is almost invariably read with an American accent.

absolutely wonderful short story, very engaging and absorbing with the descriptions given in the ability to almost see the story from the angle of not just the father but of also the son. the narrator is one of the best I've had the privilege of listening to through this service.

Very interesting story. Although there is a lot of build up for nothing to happen in the end. It’s a bit unfulfilling in that way.

This is a great short story. Of course I do think "War of the Worlds" is a classic science fiction novel.
