Unabridged Audiobook
Such a good book. The spy story is fascinating, but the real centerpiece of the novel is the protagonist's witty take on the world, and especially on class snobbery and the arrogance of the higher-ups in "the department." Written in 1983 before the fall of the Berlin Wall, it evokes a lost pre-internet, pre-cell phone world in which spycraft depended on quick wits and knowledge of how to read people and situations. Narrator is perfect.
Another great read as Deighton develops the story of Bernard Sampson, read by a great narrator who I really enjoy listening too.
The best narrator ever!!!
