Summary
Louisa May Alcott's beloved 1868 novel is about the four March girls - Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy - who are growing up in Massachusetts during the Civil War. As the novel opens, their father is away at war, and the girls are struggling to be good and to reconcile themselves to their relative poverty. Each has her trials to deal with, and they are encouraged by their loving mother, and by their friendship with their neighbor, Theodore "Laurie" Laurence.

Only made it 35 minutes. Had a hard time following narrator as it sounded like ONE LONG RUN ON SENTENCE.

The book Little Women is such a great book. The movie Little Women is one of my favorite. But some of the narrating was hard to understand. It would have been nice if there was just one narrator. But over all I loved listing to Little Women.

Loved this

The book is a lovely classic, beautifully written, with a timeless mastery of script and description everyone should read. The readers were not very successful in maintaining a tone or cadence fitting of the prose. Some narrators sounded as if they were reading their grocery list.

Such an amazing book! I hate the first narrator and I think there was a philipeano narrator as well but she was very hard to understand

The story is classic and I thought couldn't be ruined -- however, the multiple readers (some not understandable) and several having accents totally inappropriate to the story did really spoil the enjoyment of the listen.

This book is described as having "A full cast". I thought this meant there would be voices for each character. This was not the case. Instead, each chapter had a different narrator, some of whom were hard to understand and/or read in a monotone. Loved the story though.

It's a classic. Good book. But few of the narrators are monotone and hard to follow, reading the dialogues as a very long one sentence.

Great book!Loved listening to the different narrators.

Great book for young girls. Most of the narrators are good but one of them is unbearable with plain tone and hard to understand voice.

The narrator switched from chapter to chapter. It was very strange and some of them were terrible!

Have seen the movie as a child but loved the book so much more (as most books are of course better). With it being a free book some of the narrators are better than others but never the less very enjoyable.

Great book! No wonder it's a classic!! The various narrators were mostly great. Only a few very monotone.

Obviously a good classic book but as far as audiobooks go, awful narrating and each chapter gets interrupted by the narrators.

Enjoyed the book but not the narrators, some of whom were very hard to understand, having one narrator throughout would have been better

It was interesting to hear the various narrators. Some were very good, others not so, but I truly appreciate the time, and willingness, it took them to record this lovely book. I certainly didn't have the time to sit and read it for myself. Love listening while I work.

The narrator is SO hard to listen to. I love this story, but had to stop listening because the narrator ruined it for me.

Couldn’t get through the first three chapters, the narrator was distracting and hard to follow.

Please the person that narrated chapter 37, please don’t let her do that again

Most of the narrators were very good, but a couple were difficult to understand . Ms Alcott was very verbose.

The book was all I had expected, a great story that kept me hooked to the end. The narration was mostly good with some being better than others but one narrator was terrible. She really destroyed 3 chapters with a very monotone mumbling voice that was hard to understand and impossible to tell where one sentence began and the next ended.

Really hard to listen to with so many different narrators a number of which were very poor

Great book but the narrator confused the characters and ended every sentence with a question....

Had to skip a few chapters as could not cope with a couple of the narrators.

There was a huge variety of readers...some better than others...but with these librevox recordings it is highly irritating to listen to the introduction at every new chapter...can you not just do the commercial plug at the beginning and then just start each chapter without the advertising? But did listen to all the book as it is one of my favourites

The book is amazing so far. The narrator has gotten better as I’ve been going along. In chapter three there is a weird rumbling sound. It’s like a cat purring. It also sounds like the narrator is too close to the microphone.

Captivating story Paints a clear picture of life at that time

The actual story is brilliant, but the audio was narrated by several different people and it threw me out of the story line by having to adapt to the new voice. Some of the readers acted bored or rushed and it was a shame.

Narration of this book was dismal. It’s certainly sad since the book is so delightful.

The book is a wonderful classic, beautifully written, with a timeless mastery of script and description The readers were not very successful in maintaining a tone or cadence fitting of the prose. Some narrators sounded as if they were having difficulty reading with enjoyment in their voice. Overall. Entertaining and enjoyable.

I enjoyed it very much but had to skip a couple of chapters completely because I couldn’t bear listening to those narrators! I know it’s free so I guess we should take what we can get but honestly, a man!? Narrating Little Women? And an old lady from the north of England? The woman with the strange accent? And yes the whole monotone thing that one narrator had going on? I wanted the pleasant gentle soft American accented women eg Mary Anderson to do justice to such a great novel. Thank you.

This is read by about 5 or 6 different people. it would have been better if only one voice had read it. Some readers were good. some you could hardly understand.
