This book broke my heart into a million pieces. Most heart breaking story I have ever read. There were parts where I couldn’t believe what was happening. I had to take a break from this book to feel normal again. Will forever think of Jude

This book is not for everyone. Honestly, there were so many points where I asked myself, WHY ARE STILL READING THIS?! it’s emotionally heavy. It’s got some problematic things for me however, this book is loved by a good portion of the queer community. So maybe it’s not as a problem as I think. It’s just a story that is so over the top sad that you know what is going to happen and you want it to happen because why does everything bad happen to this one person. I wish it focused on two characters instead of weaving other people in and out. It made it so unnecessarily long. This just wasn’t for me and I could write so many reasons why I disliked this and do not recommend it to people.

I’ve enjoyed parts of this book and parts i felt were too intricate to the point of boredom The writing was impeccable and kept me engaged throughout key moments. I DO NOT recommend this book if you don’t like Trauma dumping! It is definitely a different take on how some people deal with mental health issues. I always like to assess how a book makes me feel and if it live up to my expectations after reading And it definitely left me feeling angry!

Torture. Was probably good read but I fell asleep almost every time due to the slow narration. Then I had to find my place again. It’s taken sooo long to finish this book. Definitely a book to read and not listen to.

Heartbreaking beautiful

I was intimidated by the length, concerned that I wouldn’t like the book and I cannot not finish a book. I am so glad I chose to listen to this beautiful but tragic story. So beautifully written. The characters flaws quietly unfold through out and so incredibly describe emotion and the human condition.

This is a very literary and intelligent book. I can see why it received all the accolades that it did. On the other hand, I listen to audio books that are lighter in tone and subject matter, and reserve this type of book for real reading. I found it too heavy and sad to listen to most of the time. The narrator was perfect for the tragedy of everything but again, I personally found him too heavy and monotone.

I was reading the paper copy and the listening to the audiobook, I needed the audio to get through a lot of the dry bits which in the beginning was a lot. This book has a moving story that is raw and emotional. Would recommend to people that want that deep emotional connection to a very sad story. The narration wad done very well and thank God because I needed it to get through!

Such a devastating and tragic, yet absolutely stunning story. The narrator does a tremendous job of capturing each characters unique tone and inflection, and emotes the pain and agony depicted in this harrowing story. I wish I could go back in time and hear this book again without knowing what was in store. I’ll never forget this book.
