Unabridged Audiobook
First and foremost, I love this cover. I would have missed this novel if not for the cover. I was walking around a bookstore and spotted this one. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I'm really glad it did because this a favorite read this year. Reading the synopsis, this novel reminded me of House of Leaves and Night Film. I was quickly sold. Jack Sparks is a journalist and minor celebrity. He is an arrogant, self-obsessed, non-believer writing a novel about the paranormal. He is so stubborn and very much in denial. He's obsessed with social media and his social image. I quickly began to suspect that he was an unreliable narrator... He's an alcoholic and a drug addict. The novel is fast paced right from the start. There is never a dull moment with Jack Sparks. You will hate him and be very much entertained. It's both frightening and hilarious. The second half of the novel is very different from the first. There's a dichotomy between the Jack in the first half and the second. It definitely has a eerie and disturbing atmosphere throughout.
Wasn’t a fan of this book. I just didn’t realize that I was getting myself into before I read this book.
