I found this a completely and totally moving story. I live within 15 miles of Monticello and have visited there MANY MANY times, but this is the first time it hit me like a brick of what slavery was like even for favored and well treated. I cried several times in the telling. This should be sold at the Monticello Gift Shop on CD so visitors could hear the slave's side of the story, spoken with believable accents. It is an extremely well written book that keeps your attention. The reader was wonderful.
