Summary
Len Deighton's classic first novel, whose
protagonist is a nameless spy - later christened Harry Palmer and made famous worldwide in the iconic 1960s film starring Michael Caine.

The Ipcress File was not only Len Deighton's first novel, it was his first bestseller and the book that broke the mould of thriller writing.

For the working class narrator, an apparently straightforward mission to find a missing biochemist becomes a journey to the heart of a dark and deadly conspiracy.

The film of The Ipcress File gave Michael Caine one of his first and still most celebrated starring roles, while the novel itself has become a classic.

Sorry to say, I found this book odd and almost incomprehensible. It's Deighton's first book, published in 1962 to wide acclaim, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I consider Deighton a true genius and love his later books. Narrator is excellent.

Not sure what people are talking about the book being confusing at all, love this book and in my opinion, the book is much better than the movie , which I love as well.

It makes no sense, very confusing and the ending leave readers very dissatisfying. It seems the author want to try some new writing style but are not hundred percent commit to it, leaving the book in a bad quality on both side. Just because an author has wrote many books doesn’t mean that author is good.
