Summary
In early spring of 2059, Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called off planet to face a grueling ordeal—giving a seminar at the largest police conference of the year, to be held in a swanky resort. A resort which just happens to be owned by her husband, Roarke, of course.Even though Eve can't quite see it that way, it's supposed to be at least partly a vacation. But work intrudes in the form of a bloody homicide, and Eve is off and running. The case is complicated by Eve's personal history with the victim—and by the killer's history with Roarke. As danger closes in and the body count rises, Eve must find a way to stop the cycle of violence and revenge, and shove the past back where it belongs.

Great book just like all the rest

I just love these books. Best to listen to them in order. The author does a wonderful job describing the lives of the characters, and the narrator continues to pull you into the story.

I am in love with these characters so much! I just want to get all of them in order.

Read a lot like the other "in Death" books. If you like those, you'll like this one too.

J.D. Robb does a good job trying to project what life might be like in the future. I have enjoyed the Eva Dallis series but found this novella a bit to short, I ending up feeling that I had missed something in the story. Overall this is a fast pace short story that would be great for a short trip or commute.

Not one of J.D. Robb's best. I thought it was not as suspenseful as her others and slow going. I am a big fan and will continue listening to my favorite police lieutenant. Keep them coming.

As usual I love this character. I hope she continue writing more stuff with lieutenant Dallas.

One of the shorter books in the Eve Dallas series. Good, but not great. Don't pick this if it your first JD Robb, it doesn't reflect her writing talent.

Not bad. I usually enjoy the "Death" series of books, but this was not quite as good as some of the others. Not a bad "read" - to allow to play while driving.

Ugh! I really cannot stand the character of Eve Dallas and usually only read these novels because I do enjoy the other characters. I find Eve to be too hostile, overbearing and honestly none of these people would be her friend with the way she treats them. Time to give Peabody her own series of books.

I agree it was predictable, got the villan the first guess. Too short and hurried. Enjoyable, but not up to Eve series usual standards.

Is this ScFi or something else? After reading it I am not sure. I didn't like it, but I wasn't disgusted with it either. I enjoyed the female narrator, though I think she didn't handle all the dialects as well as she could. Below average is the summation here.

Not for everyone due to the graphic violence and sexual content, but as always a spellbinding and scary story to keep the listener's heart rate up. I enjoy the futuristic crime scene technology.

I don't understand this book. It was only 3 cds even though it said it was unabridged. This is just a throw away story - no where near as good as the other ones. I just listened to it and can't even remember what it was about.

This was a very enjoyable story and I liked seeing the Eve Dallas character meet her match.

Very predictable. Typical heros and villians. No mystery. Expected something a bit more involved
