Summary
This program features an author's note read by Nora Roberts, sharing her inspiration for The Lost Bride Trilogy and the incredible personal history behind these stories.

Inheritance is the first in The Lost Bride Trilogy by #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts—a tale of tragedies, loves found and lost, and a family haunted for generations.

1806: Astrid Poole sits in her bridal clothes, overwhelmed with happiness. But before her marriage can be consummated, she is murdered, and the circle of gold torn from her finger. Her last words are a promise to Collin never to leave him…

Graphic designer Sonya MacTavish is stunned to learn that her late father had a twin he never knew about—and that her newly discovered uncle, Collin Poole, has left her almost everything he owned, including a majestic Victorian house on the Maine coast, which the will stipulates she must live in for at least three years. Her engagement recently broken, she sets off to find out why the boys were separated at birth—and why it was all kept secret until a genealogy website brought it to light.

Trey, the young lawyer who greets her at the sprawling clifftop manor, notes Sonya’s unease—and acknowledges that yes, the place is haunted…but just a little. Sure enough, Sonya finds objects moved and music playing out of nowhere. She sees a painting by her father inexplicably hanging in her deceased uncle’s office, and a portrait of a woman named Astrid, whom the lawyer refers to as “the first lost bride.” It’s becoming clear that Sonya has inherited far more than a house. She has inherited a centuries-old curse, and a puzzle to be solved if there is any hope of breaking it…

This is a great prelude book. It is not a stand alone story. Lots of story and character development. Only get this now if you are a die hard fan, other wise, wait till more books are out. Again, Greta prelude, but just a prelude.

A fantasy romance from Nora Roberts with a gothic cursed mansion? Yes, please! I was sucked in immediately. This generational haunting goes back two centuries. Sonya is such a strong and resilient character. I loved experiencing her and Trey connect. The atmosphere was gothic and intriguing. That cliffhanger has me itching for the next audiobook! Brittany Pressley was cast perfectly for this role. Her timing, pitch, pace, and tone was perfect. Her characterizations were spot on. This is an intriguing story and she portrayed that brilliantly. This series is off to a great start! Thank you to the author and NetGalley for gifting me this mysterious and suspenseful romance in exchange for an honest review. 5 Thriller Stars! I have been a Nora Roberts fan since I was introduced to her books at a secondhand book store when I was in highschool, and we'll leave it at that, before I age myself or her. There have been a few books that didn't grab me, and that is okay, not every book a writer writes is going to be for everyone. But this one! This one?! This one makes me wonder why I haven't reread some of my old books! Then I remember, I work with my hands and it is really hard to change pages while working with your hands. So, I guess I might be listening to some oldies but goodies. The concept is awesome! I for one, grew up in the south, old house, just outside of Washington, D.C. Lots of land and lots of terrible things that happened on those plots of lands. Ghosts were a given and ghost stories at every sleepover were also a given. So this was right up my alley. I was absolutely intrigued listening to Nora's forward, but then, the prologue started, and I was hooked. Usually when I see that a Trilogy is coming out, I will wait until all of the books have been released and then I will get them all at one time. Not this time! I read, erm, listened to, the whole book in less than a weekend. While the narrator, Brittany Pressley, did a fantastic job with almost all of the voices, I do wish they would have at least had a male narrator to cover those voices. Brittany still did an excellent job with all the accents and the acting that this book would require and does and I really hope they keep her on for all 3. The addition of at least 1 male voice that could cover all of the males in the book I think would just take it right over the top! If you love Nora Roberts, if you love ghost stories, if you love love, download this book, listen to it, if you don't like it, don't get the rest. I would say you are wrong, but hey, who am I?
