Summary
He's gonna be sorry he ever messed with me and Loretta Lynn.
Sadie Blue has been a wife for fifteen days. That's long enough to know she should have never hitched herself to Roy Tupkin, even with the baby.
Sadie is desperate to make her own mark on the world, but in remote Appalachia, a ticket out of town is hard to come by and hope often gets stomped out. When a stranger sweeps into Baines Creek and knocks things off kilter, Sadie finds herself with an unexpected lifeline … if she can just figure out how to use it.
Fans of The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek will love this intimate insight into a fiercely proud, tenacious community and relish the voices of the forgotten folks of Baines Creek.
With a colorful cast of characters and a flair for the Southern Gothic, If the Creek Don't Rise is a debut novel bursting with heart, honesty, and homegrown grit.

Probably the worst book I've read thus far. I had to force myself to finish this book. I was hoping to maybe find the plot or even a story in it. waste of a credit!!

The main story line was good and wrapped up nicely; however there was a whole other stories with the preacher and the teacher that I want to know more about. I'm not much on loose ends. The voices were amazing though.

This was a difficult read because it was filled with ignorance, brutality and negative characters. However the few good, kind characters more than made up for the cruelty. It opened my mind to the mental processes of the degenerate characters that the South is so famous for, but also made me aware of the power of the few who are caring and supportive of one another. The very last sentence rewards the reader for suffering through all the evil and cruelty with a kind of come-uppence, but it's tinged with a twinge of sadness. The narration was absolutely brilliant, captivating the essence of each character.
