Absolutely love this audiobook. I’ve heard great reviews about it through some friends. It is very realistic coming from a Mexican/American/Chicagoan.

Enjoyed this book, very spot on with the mexican culture. I would have liked for the narrator to have been a bit more authentic with certain pronunciations.

Being 1st generation Mexican American so much of her experience and thought process was familiar. Highly recommend this book.

This is an interesting story, just be prepared to listen to a character who is constantly critical of most people and situations she encounters. If you can get past the constant complaining, it's worth listening to. I agree with other reviews that the narrator struggles with Spanish pronunciation, which is annoying to hear. However, the overall story is engaging and colorful.

So raw, real, and inspirational

Wow! This book brought so many memories of my teen days, I connected with Julia in so many ways. I never understood why I rebelled against tradition until I understood is simply because I Didn’t want to be like my parents. Sounds so messed up to say, but I always wanted more and I didn’t want to be stuck with my life. This story was beautifully written. It made me laugh and cry. I will keep on recommending this book.

This book made me feel feeling I haven’t felt in a while, as someone who went thru similar upbringings I felt a big connection, I would recommend this book to anyone ESPECIALLY anyone in the Latinx community
