Unabridged Audiobook
The Hustler Next Door is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity small town romance about Justine and Garrett. Justine didn’t grow up in Polson Falls, but loves it like she did. When she finds out the attractive man she met is actually a developer with plans to change her town, she enlists help to stop him. Despite actively working against each other and bantering with every interaction, these two fall in a deep attraction with one another. I really enjoy KA Tucker’s stories and the plots she creates in addition to the romance. This book was definitely heavily plot based for a good chunk of the book, but it did feel a little too lacking in the romance for me. We don’t see much of a connection between the two main characters for a while and even though things progressed in a good way, it took a bit to get there. The heroine may not be for everyone, but I liked how she was outspoken, brazen and unapologetic. She knows when to put people in her place and stand up for herself. My favorite part was that Garrett never wanted to change her and was attracted to her for who she is. Their banter and conflict lead to some great chemistry. This was an audio listen for me. I hadn’t listened to anything by this narrator before and I can actually be quite picky with narrators. I ended up liking her more than expected and thought she played the various characters well, although some of the accents made me chuckle. The story and consequentially the audiobook is just the heroine’s POV. *Audiobook ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review*
This is the second book in the Polson Falls series, a standalone enemies-to-lovers, small-town romance. Justine and Garrett's story is funny, entertaining, and heartwarming. Justine is such a wonderful character, kind, resilient, sassy, and feisty. Garrett is handsome, and enigmatic. They are opposites attract, and they are perfect together. The story is well written, and engaging. Some scenes are hilarious! The supporting characters are great, and interesting. If you like romantic comedy, this one is for you. Tina Wolstencroft did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more in the series.
I love a good small town romance! I enjoyed going back to Polson Falls with Justine’s story. New to town Garrett is clearly being secretive. But things aren’t always as they seem, right? I really loved Justine. I absolutely could relate to her. Her sarcasm, and quick banter. Fiercely loyal to those she loves! Garrett seemed kind of sketchy at first, but he kept at it and I finally came around to him. I really enjoyed this audiobook and the narration is absolutely amazing!
Full transparency, I really didn’t like the fmc for most of the book. But by the end I was rooting for her.
I haven't read a K.A. Tucker book for years and now I'm wondering how I let myself lose touch with this author. This was such a fun book to listen too. I typically prefer my audiobooks to have multiple POVs with dual narration, but I did not miss either aspect when listening to this one. Tina Wolstencroft did an amazing job narrating all the characters. She is a true voice actor and I really enjoyed listening to her tell this story. Justine's character was so much fun. I truly enjoyed the banter between her and Garrett. The chemistry between the two was undeniable at the get-go but due to Garrett's reason for being in town, they become frenemies. Their antics when they are forced to be around each other were truly entertaining. If you are looking for a fun listen/read with a healthy dose of spice, this one is for you. I can't wait to play catch up with the author's backlist!!
The Hustler Next Door Polson Falls, Book 2 By: K. A. Tucker Narrated by: Tina Wolstencroft Fun! Fun! Fun! KA Tucker pens another fantastic, funny, romantic story that is sure to catch your attention. This enemies to lovers story is chock full of electric chemistry. Justine recently moved in with her best friend Scarlett after breaking up with her boyfriend. Living in Polson Falls has that family feel and working at Ned's Appliance Store is helping her get by. Garrett comes in needing a new refrigerator, and the two hit it off. That is until Justine finds out he is the real estate mogul trying to buy up the town and change it from it's charming warmth to a concrete jungle. And our story begins. Explosive fights, witty banter, spice and love are all brewing in this story. You may be surprised! With characters like the stubborn, willing to do what it takes to keep her town, Justine to Garrett, the one who needs to prove himself it's a battle of the wills! How does it all turn out? Give it a listen! You may be surprised! Tina Wolstencroft is a new narrator to me, and I loved her voice! Perfect for the new adult genre, she gives each character a sound that is perfect to their personality. She can transition from male to female, old to young and make it all easy to distinguish and utterly enjoyable. This is a great listen!
