Summary
Adapted from Decoded, Meltzer’s hit show on the HISTORY network, History Decoded explores fascinating, unexplained questions. Is Fort Knox empty? Why was Hitler so intent on capturing the Roman ‘Spear of Destiny'? What’s the government hiding in Area 51? Where did the Confederacy’s $19 million in gold and silver go at the end of the Civil War? And did Lee Harvey Oswald really act alone? Meltzer sifts through the evidence; weighs competing theories; separates what we know to be true with what’s still-and perhaps forever-unproved or unprovable; and in the end, decodes the mystery, arriving at the most likely solution. Along the way we meet Freemasons, Rosicrucians, Nazi propagandists, and the real DB Cooper.

The conspiracy stories are good. The best part of this audiobook is the narrator, who is quite the salesperson in convincing readers of the conspiracies.

A little bit dated but I enjoyed the book.

Interesting listening. Narrator was excellent. I didn’t feel like I was pushed one way or another re what to believe.

I really liked this book, slowly unraveling and investigating the ten most conspiracy worthy events in history. There aren't any clear answers to what actually happened, but he does give explanations to what might have happened, and what people were probably involved.

Book was okay. Subjects presented were theorized with deduced ideas and some already know info. But not hard conclusive provable case solving facts.

Overly dramatic as is the modern style. Less factual and more emotional. I prefer a traditional fact based look at history so this book was a bit of a miss for me. However, it was entertaining and some of the mysteries are looked at with more facts and reason than others. Narrator was excellent, I just wish that some of the material wasn’t so cheesy

Overall good and entertaining, there was a significant change in tone when it came to discussing UFOs which he believes are real. It undercuts the assertion of seeking "facts".

Great book. Love the organization of the book. Well researched, but not sure of citations for each debunked conspiracy (not on audio book, but may be in written). I like his discussions and book is much like the TV show that was similar.
